    Job Description

    • Responsible for developing a profitable portfolio of risks by leading a team of Underwriters that work in collaboration with the Sales team to achieve the organization profitability and growth targets. Improve customer experience by prioritizing the team’s workload according to complexity of risk and recommending changes to existing processes.
    • Lead a team of underwriters to develop a profitable portfolio of risks
    • Manage the team’s delivery by allocating work according to complexity of the request and underwriter mandates.

    • Diploma and /or equivalent in Level 6 qualification in general insurance
    • 3 - 5 years' experience in Commercial Underwriting
    • 1 - 2 years' experience in managing a Team of Underwriters would be advantageous

    Job Description

    • This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and financial education and to achieve lending, servicing, transactional banking and insurance sales targets through the marketing and selling of Old Mutual and its products. 

    The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts.

    • Meets monthly sales targets in terms of lending, transactional banking and insurance.
    • Servicing of existing Old Mutual policies such as facilitation of claims and attending to customer complaints and queries in order to meet the Net Promotor Score (NPS) requirements.
    • Check loan application documentation for accuracy, authenticity and compliance to Policy and Procedures as well as completeness

    Actuarial Expert: Shareholder & Insurance Risk Portfolio

    Job Description

    • Old Mutual is a financial conglomerate with South Africa’s largest actuarial team. Actuaries continue to be a critical talent pool for us. In fact, we are one of the largest communities of actuaries in South Africa, and we continue to grow this capability across the African continent.
    • This team is part of the Old Mutual Group Finance division, reporting directly to the Group Chief Financial Officer. The team operates and provides exposure across all the businesses in Old Mutual including the various jurisdictions.

    You will support the Finance Actuary of Old Mutual’s Shareholder segment, whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Monitoring and reporting of insurance risk (life and non-life) to the Old Mutual Limited Board,
    • Driving commercial management of insurance risk (life and non-life) across the group,
    • Delivering on financial reporting for the shareholder portfolio,
    • providing actuarial input into shareholder forecasts, business plans, and management reporting.
    • The role is not static and will evolve as continue to expand the function, driving commercial insights, critical financial reporting, and the effective management of insurance risk across the financial conglomerate.
