    Cleaner (post level 18)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Clean residences and other accommodation categories of the Department: Housing and Residence Affairs.
    • Clean according to the All-Care Colour Coding System.
    • Responsible for issued equipment as provided by the University.
    • Clean restrooms as provided by the University.
    • Clean during conferences; this includes making up beds and taking off the linen after conferences. Work overtime when required, especially during conference times.

    Inherent Job requirements:

    • Grade 10 on NQF level 2.

    Recommendations:

    • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a colour code cleaning system.
    • Colour coding cleaning system certificate.

    Assistant Officer (post level 13)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide professional, friendly customer service.
    • Assist with all registration-related activities.
    • Processing of registration forms.
    • Provide daily administrative support, including data capturing.
    • Ensure that all precautions for data confidentiality are maintained.
    • Identify missing data inconsistencies and correct errors.
    • Handle general enquiries (telephonic, walk-in, email and chatbot).
    • Make use of the library FAQ’s website information and data sources to ensure consistent and accurate responses to customers.
    • Escalate complaints and non-standard queries to the appropriate line manager.

    Coordinator: Legal Service (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer)

    Duties and responsibilities: 

    • Coordinate, manage and administer the Centre’s strategic litigation work.
    • Identify, initiate, and manage suitable cases for the Centre’s strategic litigation work.
    • Liaise with and manage clients in strategic litigation.
    • Coordinate the drafting of legal documents for the Centre’s strategic litigation in cooperation with the Centre’s Director, the attorney in the Legal Services Division and counsel.
    • Generate funds for the Centre’s Legal Services Division.
    • Link and collaborate with the different branches of the legal profession, NGO’s and the South African Human Rights Commission in Bloemfontein and the Free State Province to promote public interest litigation in the Free State.
    • Contribute to the Centre’s research/publication output by publishing in accredited scholarly journals and books.
    • Supervise postgraduate students in the Centre.
    • Teach in the Centre’s Interdisciplinary Master’s Degree in Human Rights.
    • Collaborate with other entities within the UFS on human rights and transformation-related initiatives.

    Inherent requirements:

    • Lecturer
    • A PhD in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 10 (for a permanent appointment) 

    Or

    • Master’s degree in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 9 (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Law or related discipline MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position). 
    • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    • Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
    • A good academic record.
    • Senior Lecturer
    • PhD on NQF Level 10 in Law or related discipline.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Proven experience in the supervision of graduated master’s degree students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publication/s in peer-reviewed national and international accredited scientific journals. 
    • Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee, or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.

    Recommendations:

    • Experience in fund-raising in the public interest litigation field.
    • Experience in publishing scholarly research.
    • Experience in postgraduate student supervision.
    • Doctorate in law or a related discipline.
    • Admitted attorney or advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
    • Willing to enrol for a doctoral degree at the first available opportunity if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.
    • Proven research record of relevant publications in nationally accredited journals.
    • Member of a or registration at a professional body.
    • Member of a national or international scholarly society or committee.

    Associate Professor: Department of Psychology

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Psychology.
    • Provide study guidance and supervision to final year and postgraduate students.
    • Provide clinical supervision to students in the Applied Master’s Programme.
    • Initiate and conduct high-level research and sustain quality research outputs.
    • Contribute towards creating a strong academic identity for the department.
    • Contribute to programme development and curriculum review within the department and faculty.
    • Participate in community engagement initiatives where possible.
    • Recruit senior students for postgraduate study.
    • Perform organisational and administrative duties. 

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    • Doctoral Degree on NQF level 10 in Psychology.
    • Three (3) years registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist.
    • An NRF rating of C3 or equivalent status / research publication profile.
    • Proven experience in the research supervision of master’s students.
    • Proven experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Psychology.
    • Experience as external assessor for postgraduate students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of research papers/posters at national scholarly conferences, where there is evidence of peer review of papers.
    • Act as an editorial board member of high-quality national scholarly journals.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in a specific scientific area of scholarship.
    • Serve as a member of a national scholarly society OR a national committee or agency concerned with research at higher education levels, OR show evidence of service as an active member of an international equivalent.

    Recommendations:

    • ​​​​​​​Lecturing experience in Psychology at a tertiary institution.
    • A good scholarly record.
    • The ability to work with and learn more about digitalized academic platforms.
    • Experience in statistical packages (SPSS/MPLus).
    • Proven experience in the research supervision of doctoral students.
    • Evidence of successfully graduated master’s students.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of research papers/posters at international scholarly conferences, where there is evidence of peer review of papers.
    • Expertise within child, adolescent, and adult assessments and psychotherapeutic interventions is a requirement.
