    Operations Supervisor (Gauteng)

    Description
    PURPOSE

    • An exciting opportunity exists to ensure that several tasks are carried out on site to safety, environment and productivity, and to assist management with the efficient and effective running of the site.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Business / Functional Management

    • Execute operational and technical duties in line with organisational directives, as provided
    • Support implementation of business initiatives as directed
    • Financial, Commercial and Contracts Management
    • Work with materials and equipment in a cost-effective way, as per standard operating procedures and practice notes as directed
    • Ensure full compliance to material usage requirements in executing duties
    • Risk Management and Compliance, Including Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) Responsibility
    • Execute all duties in strict compliance to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) policies, procedures and legislation, to ensure the company's responsibility is met
    • Comply with all reporting and information requirements
    • Stakeholder Management (Internal and External)
    • Ensure professional interaction with stakeholders
    • Maintain working relationships with support functions on site and at head office, as required to deliver in their section against standards
    • Engage with peers and seniors on the project to ensure project objectives are achieved as per instruction

    Operations and Project Management

    • Contribute to plan / schedule generation for daily / shift work, in line with project goals
    • Responsible for operational execution of work, through delivery of own tasks and duties, as well as supervision of the work for the team on shift
    • Management Operating Systems and Reporting
    • Ensure all paperwork and posters are displayed on the site office wall and kept up to date
    • Ensure all reported near misses are recorded following procedure and submitted weekly

    Technical Management

    • Responsible for adherence to technical standards and work methods, for section, in accordance with organisational and client requirements, policies, procedures and legislation

    SHEQ Management

    • Check sums are right on plan drawings and quantities and that all materials and work are to the specifications
    • Record the condition of plant arriving on site on a form with photographs

    People Management

    • Lead, and manage team
    • Support, guide and coach team

    Culture and Climate

    • Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement for the duration of the project
    • Align with client culture requirements as directed by management

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • National Diploma in Civil or equivalent
    • B Tech in Civil or Mining or equivalent preferred

    EXPERIENCE

    • At least one to two year’s tailings deposition experience working in a mining / tailings environment or construction environment.

    Sheq Assistant (North West)

    Description
    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Policy, Targets, Objectives & Goals

    • Ensure that the current SHE Policy is displayed at all areas of the operation.  
    • Make all employees aware of the SHE Policy, Targets, Objectives and Goals.  Communication with all clients in this regard.

    Legal Aspects/Requirements

    • Ensure company practices comply with Legislative requirements.
    • Ensure submissions of applicable statutory documents.
    • Quarterly review of appointments in each audit area and update.
    • Advise management / appointees of the roles, responsibilities and duties.

    Risk Assessment

    • Ensure that all contracts have a baseline risk assessment.  
    • Review baseline risk assessment annually.
    • Assist and advise operational staff with risk assessments.
    • Conduct WSWP and Planned task observation.
    • Conduct an issue base risk assessment with all reportable or disabling incidents.
    • Establish a system to monitor WCA claims status.
    • Monitor the medical status of employees
    • Reporting, Recording and/or Review
    • Submit monthly report to SHE Coordinator.
    • Report all reportable, DI or any health incidents to the SHE Coordinator.

    Report on WCA status monthly.
    Special Projects

    • Provide on going feedback to management on the project.
    • Review the project at the end of the project to ensure continual approval

    Requirements
    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12
    • National Diploma / Btech in Safety Management

    EXPERIENCE

    • 2 years' experience in a Safety Role

    Operations Supervisor (North West)

    Description

    • To aim and on shift with regard of the operation supervisor is to ensure that a few tasks are carried out on site to safety. Environment and productivity and to assist the superintended and other line managers with the efficient and effective running of the site. The operation supervisor is the responsible supervisor on shift.

    Responsibilities

    Business/ functional management

    • Execute their operational and technical duties in line with organizational directives, as provided by the superintended or reporting line manager.
    • Support implementation of business initiatives as directed in their area.

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    • Work with materials and equipment in a cost-effective way, as per standard operating procedure and practice notes as directed by the line manager.
    • Ensure all compliances to material usage requirements in executing of their duties.

    Risk management & compliance, incl. ESG responsibility

    • Execute all duties in strict compliance to SHEQ policies, procedures and legislation to ensure the company’s responsibilities are met.
    • Comply with all reporting information requirement, as set by the superintendent.

    Stakeholder Management (Internal/ External)

    • Ensure professional interaction with stakeholders, at operator to junior management level.
    • Maintain working relationship with support function on site and at head office, as required to deliver in their section against standards.

    • Align with client culture requirements as directed by their line manager.

    Requirements
    Qualification

    • National diploma in civil or mining/ Metallurgical/ industrial Engineering or Equivalent.
    • B Tech in civil or Mining/  Metallurgical Engineering or Equivalent

    Experience

    • At least 1 to 2 years tailings deposition experience working in a mining/ Tailings environment.

    Skills, Qualities & Abilities Required

    • Solid understanding of the mining industry with specific emphasis on Tailings business.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the national legislation, standards and bylaw application to tailings business. Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical and operational aspect core to the tailings industry. First line supervision – management theory and application
