    Senior Occupational Hygiene Officer

    Job Description:

    The Senior Occupational Hygiene Officer is involved in the planning of monitoring, the measurement of Health stressors (e.g. air monitoring) the evaluation and interpretation of exposures to ensure that Venetia Mine remains compliant with health and hygiene legislation.

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    • Organize the taking of samples for water, swabs, airborne pollutants, noise and thermal stressors. And identify risks and controls occupational hygiene monitoring programs.
    • Produce monthly feedback reports on personal and area monitoring on work done in compliance with KPIs
    • Assist in the drafting and implementation of reduction strategies for potential occupational health hazards in the form of chemical hazards, physical hazards, ergonomic hazards, and biological hazards.
    • Oversee SHE File audits to ensure compliance with the Occupational Hygiene requirements as per OHSAS 18001 & and mine procedures.
    • Analyse findings correctly and compare findings to recognized national as well as international standards where available. Capturing actions on Safety Management System for deviations in the workplace that may lead to occupational health hazards as per survey recommendations.
    • Knowledge sharing through training of the workforce in identifying and addressing health and hygiene hazards.
    • Performing occupational health risk assessments (under guidance of the appointed Occupational Hygienist) and recommend on controls for risk mitigation.
    • Assist in planning, design, and implementation of occupational hygiene programs and control measures.
    • Organize the external taking of samples for airborne pollutants and components, fumes, gases, vapours, or mists.
    • Conduct investigations (HPH, HPI) and recommend controls for risk mitigation (Learning from incidents).
    • Updating equipment calibration register.
    • Updating noise equipment register and implement noise reduction strategies.
    • Testing control measures and assess the effectiveness of control technologies and recommend improvements to management.
    • Encourage co-operation and teamwork between maintenance and production personnel regarding occupational hygiene matters.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Grade 12 certificate or relevant national NQF level qualification.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent
    • Registered with the South African Institute of Occupational Hygienists [SAIOH] on assistant Level
    • 5 years of Occupational Hygiene experience in a mining and/or processing environment.
    • Familiarity with a Safety Management System
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s License.
    • Registered as a technologist (advantageous)
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) and pass Heat Tolerance Screening for Underground Fitness.

    Engineering Scheduler Asset Management

    Job Description:

    As part of this team, you will be responsible for processing numerous tasks at the same time. You will be able to identify synergies and conflicts pertaining to each task and workplace which could possibly have an effect the outcome of the schedule, whilst ensuring that all required resources are available on time.

    Maintenance Scheduling: Scheduling determines the effectiveness of the WM process by ensuring that the work that is executed before the Required date and is optimised with consideration of the Routine Operating Schedule, leveraging on synergies in terms of plant operating state and resources available.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Execute the “Schedule Work” element of Anglo American’s Operating Model using Prometheus Scheduler;
    • Build effective bi-weekly schedules for work execution and lead the schedule review meetings;
    • Review the work orders daily to schedule new work, backlog work or track upcoming work;
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure proper coordination of scheduled work;
    • Use Prometheus Materials availability coordinator to track delivery of parts for scheduled work;
    • Develop and maintain Prometheus capacity planner using Shift Updater to track resource availability and loading;
    • Defining a Task start time that fits the completion window (i.e. between the earliest time resources can be available and the latest date that the work can be started and meet the required completion date),
    • Sequencing Tasks that have dependencies,
    • Consulting with personnel who will execute the work on the schedule,
    • Obtaining decisions on actions to manage Critical Issues,
    • Obtaining the agreement (and commitment) to the schedule from all affected parties.
    • Reporting: Weekly and monthly reporting, detailing scheduled versus actual maintenance activities and resource usage. You will require strong attention to detail in this position.
    • Technical: Will support the work management process (OM Operating Model) by ensuring that all planned work is scheduled before the required end-date while keeping management informed by tracking the scheduling KPI's and shutdown management.
    • Continuous improvement: This will include actively reviewing the maintenance strategies (PM03) that are system-generated. 

    Qualifications:

    • Matric with Maths and Science
    • Certificate in Office Administration or Computer Science, or equivalent;
    • Planning Diploma  will be advantageous;
    • Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills;
    • A self-starter with the ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment;
    • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment; 

     Experience:

    • 3 - 5 years of Planned Maintenance/Scheduling or Production experience in Mining/Process Industry
    • Ability to Schedule maintenance activities
    • 2 or more years of experience in using a computerised planned maintenance system (SAP)

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Work Knowledge of client disciplines – Metallurgy, Mining, and Engineering
    • Microsoft Suite - Excel and Outlook will be advantageous.

    Senior Safety Officer

    Job Description:

    To support, implement, facilitate, monitor and audit both the compliance and effectiveness of the DBCM Venetia Mine OHSAS 45001 Safety management system requirements, corporate, legal and other requirements.

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    • Support the line to implement and monitor Safety and Health management systems through reducing and minimizing operational impacts on Safety and Health.
    • Co-ordinate Safety and Health assessments, reports and advise operations on applications through guiding and advising operations on Safety and Health risk identification and management.
    • Stakeholder management and knowledge sharing through initiating and rolling out Safety and Health awareness campaigns, best practices, technologies and relevant equipment identified.

    • Maintain the safety risk management system according to organisational requirements.

    Qualifications:

    • Comsoc 1 and 2 (essential)
    • Blasting Certificate/Rock breaker Level 3 (advantageous)
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an underground related activity
    • Underground and shaft sinking experience.
    • Safety Auditors Course (advantageous).
    • SAMTRAC/SHEMTRAC or similar (advantageous).
    • Computer Literacy – MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook).
    • Valid EB/Code 8 Drivers License.
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket and HTS (Medical Fitness Certificate) on mine.

    Job Description:

    As the BI Specialist, you will provide specialist support to Mortimer Smelter, identifying business critical projects or improvements in systems and processes that drive and promote sustainable and value improvements at the operation.

    Your responsibilities will include: 

    • Drive the stabilisation and sustaining process for the Operating Model implementation at the site
    • Support the Operating Model self-assessment and assurance programme at the site

    Job Description:

    Your responsibilities will also include:
