    Data Analyst - Behavioural Economist

    Brief Description

    Data Analyst: Behavioural Economist – Mutual Park, Pinelands

    The Capability cluster will be establishing a Behavioural Economics Team (BET) In the Customer Retention Unit. This unit will be responsible for building internal awareness, capability, innovation and advocacy of behavioural economics competencies. An exciting opportunity exists for a data analyst to operate across functions (analytics, digital, segment, marketing, channel) leveraging behavioural insights to design behaviour change interventions (i.e. nudges) which shape customer behaviour in a way that generates commercial value to Old Mutual.

    The Generic Role Description

    A behavioural economist with formal training and experience in applied BE, and strong analytical ability.

    Specific Key Result Areas

    • Identify opportunities to have positive impact with the use of behavioural economics competencies.
    • Sourcing the latest and most relevant behavioural insights to identified challenges.
    • Designing programs of work and monitoring experimental programs.
    • Presenting insights, methods, results and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
    • Provides ongoing support to areas that have gone through major change projects to embed the change and codify the new standards thereby ensuring sustainability of the change.

    Generic Key Result Areas

    • Functions as an in-house behavioural economics subject matter expert.
    • Investigates and identifies key trends in customer behaviour across Old Mutual’s channel, product, segment and industry areas.
    • Proactively proposes key opportunities and threats to the Group based on key findings.
    • Designs, conducts, and statistically analyses behavioural experiments across all points of interaction between Old Mutual and its customers.
    • Integrates external insights into approach towards customer behaviour change, looking at Old Mutual relative to the market.
    • Documents changes, measures impact of changes, and adjusts approach where necessary.

    Job Requirements
    Role Requirements

    • Behavioral science degree or Economics degree / diploma
    • Ability to apply complex reasoning in a business context
    • Experience in process development/enhancement and implementation
    • Excellent planning, organizing and time-management skills
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
    • Excellent social and interpersonal skills
    • Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Experience in the application of behavioral economics to business problems (including customer journey mapping, behavior change and financial performance measurement) within the financial services industry
    • Financial background experience is essential

    Reporting to the Witbank Area Manager , you will be accountable to build and grow a new team of academy advisers.

    You have to ensure the team’s profitability by managing results, resources and risks within the framework of the business plan for the area.
