    Editor- Cape Town

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee the entire editorial process from manuscript submission to final publication. 
    • Ensure the highest quality of content by editing, proofreading, and fact-checking. 
    • Collaborate with authors, freelancers, and other team members to maintain project timelines. 
    • Manage the production schedule to ensure timely delivery of products. 
    • Coordinate with the design and production teams to ensure the final product meets quality standards. 
    • Ensure follow-up and completion of all required tasks and proactively communicate any issues or required changes. 
    • Follow-up on required tasks performed by internal and external team members. 
    • Escalate issues where needed. 
    • To manage and control projects, deadlines, budget and quality control. 
    • An understanding of the product scope, marketplace, landscape, competitors, end users and other relevant factors is built up for each product type. 
    • Complete final quality control check of product. 

    Educational Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in English

    Visual Designer (6 Months Fixed-term contract)

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Use visual design expertise and skills to create learning experiences that are appealing, appropriate, accessible and effective.
    • Provide expertise and guidance to the Content Team and Marketing teams with regards to the development of design concepts, employment of sound visual communication principles & conventions, and highlight the limitations of different applications / avenues and formats.
    • In-house origination and management of specs, templates and style-guides for book publishing – print.
    • Design, development and maintenance of product brands and brand toolkits.
    • Support in the implementation of the Maskew Miller Learning Brand across product and marketing collateral.
    • Implement occasional typesetting, cover layout or DTP artwork changes where required.
    • Guide appropriate font selection and usage across products and platforms.
    • Ensure all design work created in-house or in partnership with external designers meets Maskew Miller Learning Content Creation Standards.
    • Ensure all design collateral meets industry and Accessibility Standards.
    • Support the Content Development teams in photographic or artwork commissioning – artist selection, style & medium, brief conceptualisation / storyboarding, technical parameters, timeframes and rates guidance.
    • Assist the Head of Design and Production in the briefing, support and co-ordination of external design partners.

    Junior Archivist: Content Management

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Content retrieval and distribution 

    • Archive product to agreed standards in a Maskew Miller Learning -approved repository  
    • Serve as gatekeeper of all outgoing content to protect the business from potential litigation due to noncompliant use of content 
    • Process content requests, retrieve content from the archive and deliver the content securely in line with Maskew Miller Learning (MML) policy, agreed workflows and agreed delivery times 
    • When possible, retrieve and deliver parts of whole products and/or individual asset 
    • Assume responsibility for internal and external distribution of all products: print and digital 
    • When applicable and using common systems, apply product metadata for distribution as per MML standards 
    • Maintain accurate records of the movement of all distributed content 

    IP protection and management 

    • Monitor and report on instances in which non-compliant requests for content are overridden. 
    • Assess the completion and accuracy of incoming content requests, and communicate to the business where standards are not met 
    • Raise awareness of compliance issues with respect to re-use of content through appropriate feedback to 
    • the business in cases where content may not be released from the archive 
    • Regularly report on content retrieval to show the extent of re-use of content 
    • Business support and training 
    • Support the Content Management Lead to train and support internal people on the use of CM standards systems and tools with respect to content retrieval and product deployment 
    • Participate in the implementing and embedding of new systems and tools 
    • Work directly with vendors when the business requires content files to be remediated. 
    • Identify areas for continuous improvement and implement those improvements within the remit of the Content Management team 

    Educational Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Information science/Publishing/Communication 
    • Training in a media environment for print and digital output will be an asset. 

    Experience Requirements

    • Experience and/or training in a media environment for print and digital output will be an asset. 
    • Experience in a Content Management environment an asset. 
    • A high-level understanding of all business processes, control files, business rules and policies to ensure efficient metadata management. 
    • Ensuring that product data aligns to business taxonomies. 
    • Effective personal time management and organization skills. 
    • Experience working in publishing, media or digital industries advantageous

    Product Coordinator - Cape Town

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Invoicing for all Rights Holders & Freelancers

    • Managing and processing of all invoices
    • Managing and converting currencies for foreign invoices
    • Managing and assisting with processing of all other invoices
    • Tracking and recordkeeping of all processed invoices
    • Resolving all budget related issues for invoice processing
    • Resolving all queries from freelancers with regards to the invoice process

    Manage all courier requirements

    • Packaging of goods and gathering of dimensions information

    • Completing of customs clearance documents and customs instructions

    Educational Requirements

    • 1 - 3 years of administrative and/or publishing experience
