    Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in The Department of Computer Science

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level, and make some contribution to their profession.
    • In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement, as well as to contribute towards the governance of the institution

    Requirements

    Lecturer

    • At least a Masters degree in Computer Science (or a closely related discipline), with a definite intention to register for a Doctoral degree. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to teach in the core areas of a traditional Computer Science curriculum (experience in Information Security or Artificial Intelligence would be particularly desirable).

    Senior Lecturer

    • At least a Masters degree in Computer Science (or a closely related discipline), with progress made towards a Doctoral degree. Preference will be given to candidates with a Doctoral Degree. Candidates should have experience in teaching in the core areas of a traditional Computer Science curriculum (experience in Information Security or Artificial Intelligence would be particularly desirable).

    Associate Professor

    • At least a PhD in Computer Science (or a closely related discipline) with experience in teaching in the core areas of a traditional Computer Science curriculum (experience in Information Security or Artificial Intelligence would be particularly desirable).

    Fundraising and Development Manager

    Main Objectives

    To support the overall divisional strategy by executing and monitoring the fundraising and development strategy. To support the Director by giving input into the conceptualisation of the divisional strategy and providing specialist input with regard to fundraising and development. To lead and manage the fundraising and development section and to take responsibility for the implementation of stewardship strategies for all donors, to fully recognise their contributions and to encourage their continued support of the University. 

    The Requirements

    A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification with approximately 7 years relevant experience where such experience includes: -

    • Previous experience in fundraising or in any position where the development of relations is seen as core to the success of the position.
    • Able to demonstrate a track record of success with regard to the above as well as where initiative has been taken to enhance or build key relationships.
    • Demonstrable success in running projects which are aimed at achieving support for philanthropic programmes.
    • At least 3 years management experience.
    • Previous experience working with senior management in an organisation where strategic input has been required.

    Lead Service Desk Agent

    Main Objectives
    The Service Desk provides a point of communication for all ICT users telephonically, via email, or by users physically coming to the Division. The Lead: The Service Desk Agent drives the efficiency and effectiveness of the Service Desk, ensuring that a point of coordination for several sections/groups and processes is well maintained, resulting in excellent customer service to all staff and students.

    The Requirements
    Grade 12 plus approximately 6 years’ relevant experience where such relevant experience includes: -

    •  Previous experience working in an ICT Service Desk environment, especially using an IT Ticketing system.
    •  At least 2 years experience supervising staff OR have a Supervision Certificate plus a year’s experience
    •  Previous experience working with management of assets and updating of asset registers or 6 years administrative experience working at an advanced and independent level
    •  An ITIL qualification will be an advantage

    Manager Student Wellness

    Main Objectives

    • Overall responsibility for driving student wellness through the management of the Student Counselling Centre, Careers Centre, Wellness and Health Care Centre (HCC) to ensure the provision of a holistic wellness support service to the students of the University and to provide a high standard of health care facilities to students and staff

    The Requirements

    The job incumbent must be a Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA), with approximately 7 years’ relevant work experience over and above their internship where such experience includes: - 

    •  Previous experience working with adolescents or individuals in early adulthood. The greater diversity of the experience with adolescents the better. Those individuals with specific experience of working with University students will also be at an advantage.
    • Previous experience supervising interns with a good track record of having done so
    • Previous experience working at a strategic level (at least middle management)
    • At least 5 years’ management experience
    • Previous experience in developing new policies, practices and processes that will improve the overall quality of the well-being of students
    • Previous experience in being part of initiatives to introduce new ways of thinking where the individual has worked with individuals to change their current way of thinking and functioning

    Lead IT Support Technician - Makhanda

    Main Objectives

    • The main objective of this job is to manage service delivery and administration of the Support Section within the Information and Technology Services Division.  This is to ensure the delivery of a high standard of service to the University’s IT end users, offering the most efficient solutions in the least amount of time.

    The Requirements
    Grade 12 plus 7 years’ plus seven (7) years relevant experience where such experience includes: -

    • Previous experience working in a service-related environment where the critical focus has been planning and organizing service delivery within an IT environment.
    • Previous administrative experience.
    • At least one (1) year of supervisor experience OR the RU Supervision Certificate and experience mentoring of Tech I and Tech II staff.
