    Finance Manager

    Job Description

    • The job holder will be required to work closely with the Finance Executive, Business Executives, and various departments within a matrix environment.
    • We are seeking an individual with a proven track record in managing a finance team and a dedication to fostering a culture of high performance, partnering ,and exceptional customer service.
    • As the entrusted Finance Manager, your primary responsibilities will include delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards within the operation. This role requires a professional with the ability to make operational decisions efficiently, aligning with our commitment to optimal resource utilization and stringent timing requirements.
    • The role will be based in Boksburg and report to the Finance Executive.

    Minimum Requirements

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Financial oversight

    • Managing the daily finance functions for the operating unit
    • Financial oversight over the respective manufacturing site, ensuring company policies and internal controls are adhered to
    • Financial and operational support to the Finance Executive

    Financial Accounting

    • Ensuring financial completeness, and that the general ledger is maintained in accordance with IFRS and Group policy.
    • Review, assess, and recommend levels of provisions
    • Monthly review of all general ledger balance sheet reconciliations
    • Oversee monthly financial month-end close, ensuring deadlines are met
    • Submission of reports for Stats SA

    Monthly reporting

    • Financial reporting for the operating unit as required (monthly, half-year, and annually).
    • Open & close GL periods
    • Review sales recon
    • Review consignment stock recon
    • Review and approve all journals processed by finance
    • Review Income Statement month-on-month
    • Review Balance Sheet Recons

    Financial year end and Statutory Audits

    • Responsible for the compilation of all year-end reporting packs
    • Prepare statutory Annual Financial Statements
    • Responsible for the coordination of the year-end external audit Ad hoc responsibilities
    • Assisting all stakeholders with various queries regarding business processes
    • Roll forward of opening GL balances as well as vendor & customer balances in SAP

    Taxation

    • Prepare Year-end Tax computation
    • Prepare and submit all tax returns for the business (ITR14, provisional tax returns)
    • Prepare deferred tax roll forward year-end tax comp vs ITR14
    • Prepare DWT returns if dividend declared
    • Knowledge of Konsise tax platform

    Banking

    • Ensure that company cash policies are adhered to, and daily cash requirements are met
    • Submission of the daily cash flow to Remgro Treasury
    • Oversee cash forecasting
    • Releasing of daily payments and approving once-off cash book payments
    • Approval of payments to oil suppliers on the vendor financing App
    • Perform functions associated with being an authorised bank approver

    Fixed Asset Life Cycle Management

    • Supporting the fixed assets team to ensure that the annual physical asset verification is performed and conducted within time frames
    • Supporting the fixed assets team to ensure that useful lives and residual value reassessments are performed annually in compliance with IFRS
    • Work with the fixed asset team to ensure changes to the lease assets App are maintained

    Debtor Management

    • Oversight of team processing invoices, credit memos and receipts where relevant
    • Oversight of the account with SDO – review monthly set-off arrangement and ensure quarterly oils revaluation is completed
    • Liaise with Vector regarding payment allocations and debtors ageing

    Creditor Management

    •  Approve daily cash requests sent by central creditors department
    • Go between customer and central creditors team regarding account issues
    • Ensure oil supplier recons are up to date with no long-standing queries

    Staff Management

    • Management of the finance team.
    • Ensure that the team members are adequately developed and managed proactively to ensure quality delivery.
    • Coach and support staff to reach their career objectives
    • Build cohesion between finance & commercial

    Internal controls

    • Continuously identify and pursue opportunities to improve control procedures
    • Follow up on audit queries and ensure that corrective action is taken by responsible teams
    • Ensure compliance with approved procedures by means of control checks performed by the finance team

     

    Partnering in a matrix environment

    Act as the conduit between business and the various central finance teams (RCL & Remgro) to ensure effective communication amongst different teams and to ensure finance deliverables are met

    Route Compliance Clerk

    Job Description    

    • RCL Foods is recruiting for a driven, highly energized, analytical Route Compliance Clerk within the baking business unit.
    • The suitable candidate will be required to manage GPSTS vehicle units, Garmins and GPST logins daily and ensure route viability loaves per km, cpk ‘s, cpl. 
    • This role will be based in Durban and reporting to the Transport Manager.

    Minimum Requirements    
    Education and Qualification:

    • Matric
    • Valid code 10 driver ‘s licence and PDP
    • Knowledge of Distribution and Logistics Ability to work systematically.
    • Ability to prioritize workload. Report writing and analysis

    Experience and Training:

    • At least 3 Years qualified experience in a manufacturing environment (FMCG)
    • Experience in GPSTS and Garmins
    • Excellent Microsoft office skills

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    •  Administer and monitor the uploaded system route allocations on a daily basis.
    •  Liaise with drivers and customers throughout the day and note all comments and problems on a daily report that is sent to management after shift end.
    •  Monitor real time fuel consumption, speeding, braking and other driving and vehicle performance exceptions.
    •  Where necessary, track down the driver and send the vehicle back to the depot.
    •  Follow up stationary drivers at the back door for more than 15 minutes.
    •  Manage GPSTS vehicle units, Garmins and GPST logins daily
    •  Report on actual kilometers vs GPS kilometers vs daily averages of previous month
    •  Report on any km route deviations on daily info transport and sales file daily
    •  Monitoring and reporting on transport logistics issues including speeding, harsh braking, route deviations and route plotting, pre-trip inspections.
    •  Route analysis and optimization route splitting to be done, monthly reduce km where possible
    •  Ensure vehicle utilization at maximum capacity daily
    •  Ensure route viability loaves per km, cpk ‘s, cpl
    •  Handle disciplinary investigation enquiries of drivers on logistics

    Financial Manager

    Job Description    
    RCL FOODS is seeking an experienced, highly analytical, deadline-driven Financial Manager to join their Vector Logistics team.

    In this strategic role, the job holder will be required to :

    • Create the Financial and Operational Strategy of the region together with the Regional Operations Executives & Regional Financial Executive
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the Regional Finance and Operational teams
    • Projects – research, investigate, motivate, and cost improvements and solutions for the various operations
    • Strategically plan and assign resources for the region to achieve the required goals
    • Implement and ensure compliance with Executive Directives/Business Processes/Procedures and Policies
    • Manage and coordinate regional financial support to the Business
    • Review Financial and Operational reporting for the region including variance analysis to provide accurate and timeous operational financial reporting
    • Ensure Corporate Governance compliance across the region
    • Ensure compliance with External and Internal Audit requirements & findings
    • Assessment and prevention of risk in the region
    • Coordination and control of the region’s budget preparation and finalization

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Strategic planning & coordination

    • In conjunction with Regional Operations Executives co-create the Regional strategy, based on Operational and Financial requirements for the region
    • Design the Finance Business Model for existing and new Inland sites together with the Operations Business Model (CSD, PSD, VCS, PBCS & new models)
    • Costing of the Finance and Operations Models
    • Communicate operational capacity required over medium and longer term, required asset utilisation and capex requirements accordingly
    • Effect the agreed business models within agreed timelines to ensure effective start-up of new/change business in the Inland Region
    • Align and improve efficiencies between Finance and Operations Management teams to ensure delivery of an integrated Supply Chain benefit
    • Act as a support/stand in for the Regional Operations Executive

    Financial Management

    • Review and scrutinize monthly Financial results (income statement and balance sheet) for the region
    • Compile and deliver Consolidated Monthly reports on regional operational results against budget and forecast
    • Analyse and report on Volume trends, Stock losses, Margins and OPEX trends
    • Analyse cost variance reports, identify, recommend, and implement improvements to optimise cost control
    • Support and coordinate initiatives in the region designed to control costs and maximise profits
    • Assist the regional operations management team to optimise efficiencies
    • Define, measure, analyse and explain KPI fluctuations and variances
    • Ensure financial disciplines and internal controls are maintained at all depots in the region
    • Follow up on Internal Audit reports identifying risk in the business and ensure corrective actions indicated are actioned and implemented
    • Ensure regional compliance with Procure to Pay processes
    • Ensure regional compliance with Payments off Contracts 
    • Ensure compliance with IFRS, the Income Tax Act and operational procedures and internal controls
    • Regularly review depots’ Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring no old or misallocated entries in the different accounts
    • Review and ensure bi-annual Asset verifications take place and are signed off by Financial Manager & Financial Controllers and are balancing to GL ledger balances
    • Direct and resolve financial queries (Stock, Finance, Debtors and Creditors)
    • Review monthly Sundry Creditor Recons and Consignment recons
    • Provide financial support in regional-specific projects relating to Operations
    • Review and drive weekly/daily KPI targets
    • Ensure compliance at stock count and sign-off of stock counts
    • Ensure depot compliance with Admin Controller checklists and Compliance checklists
    • Budgets, Forecasts & CAPEX
    • Coordinate and control the Inland Region’s budget and forecast process and delivery within deadlines.
    • Accurately compile, report and present monthly forecasts. 
    • Analyse, prepare and present deviations on Actuals vs Budget and Actuals vs Forecast.
    • Compile and present weekly financial tracking reports.
    • Ensure that Regional expense budgets and forecasts reflect the economic indicators and are aligned with Group strategy
    • Report the Regional budget and forecasts in the required format and present it to management teams.
    • Coordinate the Regional Capex budget and forecast within agreed parameters, prioritising projects based on return on investment, risk and ensuring that investment is in line with strategy.
    • Ensure that the capital spend is within budgeted guidelines.
    • Evaluate capital investment projects as and when they arise by reviewing the financial indicators and ensuring that projects yield the required return and  assist in the preparation of motivations for capex’s including presentations to the Exec team and Board.
    • Provide return on investment information to the regional Operations management team to assist with the prioritisation of projects.
    • Identify sound investment opportunities for the business and communicate such to the appropriate role-players.
    • Ensure post implementation reviews are reported to the business.

    Staff and Team Management

    • Identify personnel requirements and participate in the selection process
    • Lead and develop staff within the context of the Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Skills
    • Development Act and within RCL’s defined Leadership Standards
    • Monitor staff performance and provide regular performance feedback
    • Manage staff activities, ensuring service levels are met and protocols are adhered to
    • Coach and support staff where necessary to achieve objectives
