    Depot Manager - Durban

    • The suitable candidate will be required to ensure that the Kokstad team at the depot meet required customer service level  within the operational budget. The depot manager will also ensure that depot and distribution processes are executed in accordance with health, safety and quality standards.
    • This role will be based in Kokstad and reporting to the Regional Operations & Procurement Manager.

    Minimum Requirements    
    Education

    • Grade 12
    • Tertiary qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is advantageous

    Skills

    • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English. 
    • Good numeracy
    • Good computer literacy – especially Excel and e-mail Experience
    • Minimum 5 years supervisory/management experience in distribution
    • FMCG experience
    • Experience working with JDE advantageous

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Operational Duties

    • Managing the day to day operations of the depot
    • Ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures in terms of dispatch, cash office, logistics and sales
    • Ensure depot adheres to food and health and safety requirements
    • Ensure adherence to storage and transportation legislation

    Logistics

    • Plan delivery routes to ensure optimal efficiency
    • Liaise with Fleet Manager to ensure company fleet is in good working condition at all times
    • Ensure company fleet is clean at all times
    • Ensure good record keeping for company fleet

    Sales

    • Work with sales team to set targets and encourage sales growth in the region
    • Ensure excellent customer service and swift resolution of customer complaints and problems
    • Visit key customers and prospective new customers to increase sales volumes
    • Work with sales team to minimize returns
    • Work with sales team to prevent crate losses and ensure full crate recovery

    Administration

    • Investigate driver shortages on cash up
    • Administer disciplinary action on driver cash shortages where neccessary 
    • Assist to prepare annual budget
    • Monitor actual verses budgeted spend and take action when out of line
    • Present monthly report of Depot KPI’s and explain variances
    • Implement action plans to improve performance indicators. 
    • General office administration which includes filing and employee administration

    People Management

    • Set daily objectives for staff, ensuring full productivity and value add to the business
    • Manage staff performance weekly and give regular feedback, taking disciplinary action when necessary and giving recognition where it’s due.
    • Conduct formal performance reviews twice yearly
    • Hold weekly meetings with staff 
    • Leave planning, ensuring no leave is lost

    Ensure rosters in place for team

    • Participate in recruitment of new employees

    General

    • Attend monthly meetings with Durban management team

    Production Manager - Durban

    • The suitable candidate will be required to manage all operational requirements related to manufacture of baked goods and food safety. The production manager is fully responsible and accountable for plant, materials, methods, quality, equipment, outputs and people within the production floor. The production manager will ensure processes are executed in accordance with health, safety and quality standards.
    • This role will be based in Durban and reporting to the Production Manager.

    Minimum Requirements    
    Education / Qualifications

    • NQF level 5/6, Diploma or Degree in Operations Management
    • SA Chamber of Baking Certificate – preferably Theory in Bread Making

    Experience

    • 5+ years manufacturing management experience. 
    • 3+ years perishable food manufacture and FMCG. 

    Skills/Knowledge

    • Practical knowledge of ERP system, JDE advantageous
    • Full understanding of FSMS and OHS systems
    • Good computer literacy, especially Excel

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Manufacturing goals

    • Identify Mfg. Performance Measurements (preliminary)
    • Ensure manufacturing cost targets are met
    • Ensure manufacturing delivery targets are fulfilled (on time in full)
    • Ensure output quantity targets are met
    • Ensure manufacturing quality targets are delivered
    • Recommend revisions to detailed manufacturing standards, performance metrics, targets, goals and organisation structure
    • Ensure maximum baking yield
    • Ensure maximum plant and labour utilisation

    Manufacturing reports (analysis and strategy)

    • Report and explain manufacturing results against target
    • Compare manufacturing capabilities to targets with focus on optimisation and improvement
    • Identify manufacturing deficiencies and propose improvements
    • Develop and implement manufacturing improvement programme
    • Perform and report on competitive benchmarking analysis

    Manufacturing reports (operations) (to be presented daily/weekly/monthly)

    • Gather and report production operation information
    • Collect labour costs, machine costs; explain trends and variances
    • Calculate, monitor and manage yield, efficiency, adherence to schedule, consumption (energy, water, fuels, etc), changeover time, asset effectiveness, waste, safety performance, shift performance; explain trends and variances
    • Perform root cause analysis and make recommendations

    Manufacturing Operations

    • Work with Maintenance Manager in the Installation of machines/equipment; plan and execute
    • Improve Process; continuous evaluation and improvement
    • Manage and communicate breakdown impact and expedite delivery
    • Line scheduling maximising resource utilisation
    • Material Availability - Stores
    • Determine minimum stock levels and safety stock levels
    • Ensure stock on hand matches to stock levels
    • Ensure material availability at all times (zero stock outs)
    • Determine optimal inventory days and run accordingly
    • Ensure requisition of stock to shop floor aligns with production consumption
    • All stock accounted for, variances explained and investigated ERP system responsibility

    Work closely with the cost accounting department

    • Reconcile and close production orders
    • Monitor inventory and financial transaction ensuring all inventory transaction processed
    • Ensure that all production variances are explained
    • Update BOM when necessary to ensure accurate costings
    • Ensure all damages and scrap accounted for within the system
    • Ensure that all Production reporting is extracted direct from JDE (or via Hubble)
    • Responsible for accurate and on time data off the factory floor into JDE

    General Audit Compliance
    Responsible for ensuring the facility is audit ready at any point in time. This relates to

    • Health and safety audit
    • Food safety audit
    • Halaal
    • Weights and measures
    • DOL audits

    People Management

    Assistant Category Manager - Durban

    • The purpose of the role is to support the Customer Marketing Category Manager in driving the profitable growth of the Spreads category. The Primary part of the role is to provide analytics and Go-To-Market initiatives to achieve category volume and profit objectives; to assist with developing and implementing customer/ channel specific category plans based on category and shopper marketing insights to grow market share within category; and to engage with key internal stakeholders to ensure execution excellence through all key business Functions.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Bachelor’s Degree in business/marketing, or equivalent related degree.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in related FMCG environment.
    • Proven Experience in Big Data Analysis & Interpretation (IRI, Dunnhumby, Nielsen, Ask`d Data etc.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
     CATEGORY & BUSINESS PERFORMANCE:

    • Coordination and consolidation of multi-channel 4P audits to track compliance and competitor activity.
    • Support the CCMs in preparation of regular Customer Reviews to explain performance shortfalls and identify growth dynamics.
    • Monitor category, competitor, and brand activation levels by account, evaluate ROI and strategic alignment and identify correlations with performance.

    REPORTING:

    • Fulfil daily, weekly, and monthly reporting needs of the BU.

    • Use a critical eye to provide insights and analysis on reporting.

    PRICE OPTIMIZATION: 

    • Routinely track category, competitor and brand pricing across channels identifying key trends and compliance gaps.
    • Support the planning and implementation of PI’s.

    ANNUAL BUSINESS PLANNING:

    • Assist the Category Manager to develop and provide category level insights into the Brand Plans & Customer Plans process.
    • Match brand objectives with customer/market needs.

    GO TO MARKET EXCELLENCE:

    • Lead customer specific category management projects.
    • Lead regular range reviews by store cluster to identify issues and opportunities to improve productivity and strategic alignment.
    • Support the Category Manager on design, production, distribution, execution and tracking of GTM initiatives.
    • Lead all new innovation forecasts and tracking.
    • Manage, consolidate, review, and track promotional calendar.

    CATEGORY BUDGET:

    • Manage and track spend against budget and evaluate ROI on category GTM initiatives.

    TRADE CREDENTIALS:

    • Support the Category Manager in the preparation of Category Stories and Trade Presentations.
    • Execute brand standards (brand DNA) and support development and execution of channel specific brand standards.
    • Lead any customer related Trade Shows and/or events specific to customer.

    BUSINESS PROCESSES:

    • Build effective collaborative working relationships and procedures with marketing, national accounts, ops, supply chain and external agencies.
    • Provide support to Account Manager in monitoring and analysing retail margins and customer profitability.

    NEW PRODUCT LAUNCHES:

    • Lead (B level) customised NPD from brief to delivery (DOB’s/Private Label/Confined Label)
    • Work closely with the Customer, NAM`s and Customer Exec. to ensure that all briefs meet the necessary requirements.
    • Develop and work with cross-function team members in Commercial, Supply Chain, Packaging, R&D and Regional Stakeholders to ensure Customer satisfaction.
