    Senior Lecturer/Lecturer Clinical Pharmacology Health Sciences

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    •  To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills of Clinical Pharmacology by Medical and HealthSciences students
    •  To enhance the development of fit for purpose primary healthcare-oriented graduates throughthe teaching of Clinical Pharmacology

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    •  To participate in the curriculum development of Clinical Pharmacology in the MBChB Program.
    •  To teach, assess and provide timeous feedback to medical and health science students.

    Associate Lecturer Human Anatomy Health Sciences

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • Play a dual role in laboratory and academic duties 
    •  Be responsible for the day-to-day operations, long term planning and running of the Human Anatomy laboratory at Missionvale campus  
    •  Be responsible for the maintenance and renewal of laboratory equipment, instruments and biological materials  
    • Support the faculty in facilitating anatomy teaching in laboratories to Health Sciences students  
    •  Be responsible for the receiving, storage and disposal of human tissue for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities, research and surgical workshops for the Faculty of Health Sciences

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    •  Assist the Head of Department in budgeting for anatomy equipment and supplies
    •  Provide student teaching in the field of Human Gross Anatomy/Histology/Embryology
    •  Demonstrate and provide instruction to Health Sciences students through the use of human cadaveric tissue in dissection and observational practical sessions
    •  Oversee the ordering, receipt and care of preserved specimens and the preparation of anatomical specimens
    •  Maintain inventories, place orders, manage receipt and stocking of material, supplies and equipment for the laboratory
    •  Be responsible for the operation, routine maintenance, repair, monitoring and cleaning of all laboratory equipment and supplies
    •  Monitor the production of and ensure the collection, processing and storage of hazardous waste materials and toxic chemicals resulting from laboratory classes is done according to standard
    •  Work with ICT to oversee and maintain the operation of digital devices used in teaching anatomy
    •  Ensure that all laboratory users follow the required ethical standards and codes of conduct at all time in respect of human tissue and anatomical specimens

    Associate Lecturer Science

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • The Department of Computing Sciences (CS) is looking to fill a position of Associate Lecturer within the department with an enthusiastic, forward-thinking person who will contribute to the vision and mission of the Department. The field of Computing Sciences includes Computer Science or Information Systems. There are three key areas of performance that academic staff members in the department need to meet, namely: 1) learning and teaching; 2) engagement and 3) research in the Department’s research areas.     Professor/ Associate Professor: Artificial Intelligence and ICT (5 year contract)

       CORE PURPOSE OF JOB     

    • The Faculty of Engineering, the Built Environment and Technology (in partnership with the Faculty of Sciences) seeks to establish Artificial Intelligence research at Mandela University centred around the study and development of intelligent, autonomous systems. The research focuses on theoretical foundations, as well as applications of AI.
    • We seek expertise ranging from machine learning to knowledge representation and reasoning, autonomous agents and multi-agent systems, human-machine interactions and collectives, cognition and human modelling, data science, robotics, augmented reality, graphics, computer vision and imaging, audio-visual signal processing, natural language processing and affective computing.
    • The incumbent would be Hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, the Built Environment and Technology and co- hosted by Faculty of Sciences and will be responsible for projects in the School of IT and the Department of Computing Sciences, as well as other cross-faculty research, innovation and engagement projects and output.
    • The incumbent would need to facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and post graduate level in the School of IT and the Department of Computing Sciences as well as be involved in the supervision of postgraduate students.
