    Quality Technician (KZN)

    Purpose:

    • The Quality Technician implements and manages the scope of work ensuring the conformity of the products and to support the continuous improvement on all quality processes. Ensure the conformity of the product and act swiftly to resolve quality issues. Coordinate quality related topics with customers and suppliers at Site level

    Organization Structure:

    • Based in the Manufacturing sites or in the PRASA depots where Customer Technical Support Service activities will be performed.

    Network & Links:

    • Site Operations, Industrial, Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality and Manufacturing

    Measurement:

    • Implementation of APSYS Services and Special Process Maturity using Quality Control Plan
    • Product Inspections – Post repairs/modifications, Incoming Material, Outgoing material
    • Number of defects on products inspected. Defects per Unit (DpU) by project & consolidation
    • Inspection at the workstation – number of reworks, missing parts, NCR, derogations, modifications, excluded matter damage (EMD)
    • Reactivity to solve issues using Quality Problem Solving Tools (NCR, QRQC, 8D etc.)
    • Non-conformity/QRQC treatment – containment / corrective and CONQ, using GSI/SAP
    • Conduct Workstation Audits
    • Return of experience at the workstation – to highlight areas of improvement & recommend possible corrective action.
    • Consistency with Quality animation (to meet APSYS score target)

    Requirements:

    • Diploma/B-tech in Quality Management, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
    • SAP/GSI and MS Office literacy
    • More than 2 years of Technical knowledge with solid understanding of critical characteristics of the products (i.e. mechanical, electrical, parts etc), preferably in the railway industry, ideally in an international organization
    • Knowledge and experience in quality management system (i.e. ISO 9001:2015)
    • Experience in applying Quality tools and problem-solving tools in manufacturing and/or services.
    • Exposure to Special Processes (i.e. Torque tightening, Riveting, Gluing & Sealing, Cabling & Crimping) will be advantageous
    • General railway and Train knowledge will be advantageous.
    • Working knowledge of Health, Safety & Quality standards.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the conformity of the product delivered to Customer.
    • Ensure the adherence of the Control Plan and Self Inspection at each workstation.
    • Accurately document NCR and results of the inspections/testing/audits, in order to launch the expected reaction on responsible teams (using QRQC etc.)
    • Analyze records of non-conformity to find the root cause of repetitive non compliancy/ reworks – QRQC or/and other methods.
    • Maintain all controlled document files and records in a timely and accurate manner
    • Assist in writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists
    • Escalate anomalies detected in operations & ensure effective treatment (QRQC tool)
    • Ensure Quality animation methodology, in line with APSYS requirements
    • Ensure quality is built into the processes.
    • Inspect and accept/reject products as defined in the work instruction.
    • Define and update the Defect per Unit (DpU) for each inspection / product.
    • Attend the daily meeting in the workshop.
    • Defined and communicate the quality acceptance criteria at each workstation.
    • With PrIQM/PrQE support, train teams to use the self-inspection sheets.
    • Suggest actions to improve the quality of the final product seen by the customer, especially the repetitive defects.
    • Generate reports for various performance topics
    • Support Customer and Gibela Warranty teams to apply improvement actions.
    • Train other teams (quality / operations / industrial/ supply chain) to the quality metier.
    • Respect EHS rules and any work-related processes.

    Jigs, Tools and Calibration Engineer

    Purpose:

    • Define strategy for the maintenance of jigs and tools as well as calibration to serve operational activity across depot and repair centres. Lead operational activities to ensure full availability and functionality on all equipment needed for operation.
    • Follow-up the activity and manage all tools and devices on site. From reception of the device till its end of life. The role reports to the report to the Industrial Means Manager TSSSA.

    • Sourcing & Tooling Suppliers, subcontractors (for maintenance and calibration)

    Requirements

    • National Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Technical background with 2 to 5 years’ experience preferably in Engineering , ideally in an international organization
    • Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, and software specifications
    • Metrological experience
    • Experience in instrumentation, data collection and reporting
    • Computer Literate (Microsoft Office).
    • Knowledge of Quality Management System

    Responsibilities

    • Support Products Industrial Operations QCD objectives
    • Ensure availability & performance targets of the means, equipment and tools are achieved in line with Industrial requirements.
    • Implement and lead the calibrating management process.
    • Define, develop and co-ordinate the maintenance activity on all means
    • Supervise, follow-up performance, availability and quality on all tool and jig
    • Maintain, verify and repair measuring devices
    • Manage the park of devices
    • Set up and use the maintenance management system such as TPM & OEE
    • Provide technical assistance to the users
    • Organise and follow the services carried out by metrology’s suppliers and subcontractor
    • Conduct and guarantee calibration results and reports
    • Know and guarantee the uncertainties of measure
    • Master and apply the quality requirements of metrology standards
    • Capture customer needs and key requirements
    • Contribute to the elaboration of the investment plan
    • To follow the market evolutions when it comes to equipment improvement
    • Following the growth of our repair centre, to recruit and manage the team of jig, tools and calibration technicians
    • Undertake other duties as specified by the Industrial Means Manager
    • Carry out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as laid down by legislation and the Company Health & Safety policies
    • Adhere to Company procedures especially in relation to Quality and Health & Safety
    • Read reports and manuals as and when required.
    • Report accidents/incidents, and the work done to validate or maintain the tools.
    • Promote collaborative work (common and shared processes)
