    Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant - APACE - Mpumalanga

    Description

    • Conduct ongoing situational analysis to identify gaps within the supply chain system
    • Implement systems and strategies to manage pharmaceutical stock in the clinics
    • Mentor and coach pharmacist assistants and nurses to manage stock and maintain cold chain in the clinic
    • Assist facilities with stock re-distribution and maintaining sufficient stock in the facility
    • Ensure compliance with good pharmacy practices and good dispensing practices
    • Train, Mentor and Support DOH initiatives to provide alternative access to chronic medicines (e.g. Adherence clubs, CCMDD & SyNCH, CDU/PCU, PUP’s) and any other related projects
    • Ensure medicine safety systems are implemented at facility level
    • Perform site visits at least daily
    • Familiarise self with rules and regulations relating to Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), Pharmacy Act 53 of 1974, Medicine and related substances Act 101 of 1965, as amended and other relevant legislation.
    • Familiarise self with Right to Care standards, policies and procedures
    • Ensure availability of provincial primary health care (PHC) pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs), Standard Treatment Guidelines (STGs) and Essential Medicines List (EML)
    • Ensure that all supported clinics have stock cards and files for managing stock
    • Support implementation and functionality of pharmaceutical information management systems used in the district
    • Ensure that stock management files and records are available at facilities
    • Documentation and reporting of discrepancies from suppliers
    • Assist the facilities to maintain data and ensure accurate statistics

    Description

    • To capture, update, clean, and maintain quality of patients’ medical records, relating to the delivery of Right to Care-supported HIV services at the clinic, on the relevant electronic/paper patient register/database used in the clinic

    Requirements

    Demand Creation Officer - Kwazulu Natal

    Description

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Create collaborative relations with key DOH and other stakeholders (CSOs, CBOs, NGOs, private and business sector, DSD, DBE, COGTA including other government departments and institutions) Demand Acceleration Leads at Provincial and District levels

    • Provide support demand creation support to CBO/FBO and implementing partners
    • Develop implementation models that address programmatic gaps within DATT in the supported district, sub-districts and facilities.
    • Work with Vaccination DSD teams to align demand creation plans with vaccination plans

    • Develop and adapt provincial demand acceleration tools, SOPs and other management tools

    • Work closely and liaise with the RTC Provincial Vaccination Team Lead, the District leads and the direct line manager

    • Develop and implement, in collaboration with other technical specialist for integrated strategies to incorporate behaviour and social science in different RTC programmes.

    • Implement evidence-informed social science approaches to RTC programmes. This includes the documentation of evidence and results for program interventions.
    • Assist with the development of an M&E platform to monitor and strengthen RTC’s research department.

    Requirements

    • Matric (Grade 12) and a diploma/Degree in Marketing, Communications or Public Health

    • We are hiring X1 Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant to support vaccine logistics and distribution processes to enable COVID-19 vaccines to be integrated into the routine immunization services in the district.

    Programme Outcomes

    • Working in a TA team handling all the pharmaceutical supply chain requirements, working with the pharmacist in charge of the TA teams

    Vaccine Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Distribution

    • Ordering of stock and vaccines from the main supplier or the pharmaceutical depot.

    • Receive stock and ensure storage of medication and vaccines paying attention to batch numbers and expiry dates.
    • Store medication according to storage requirements and temperatures.
    • Perform temperature control daily for relevant medication.
    • Conduct daily, weekly or bi-weekly stock takes and complete relevant inventory forms and reporting systems as may be required.
    • Check stock dates and if expired, remove from shelves for disposal.
    • Inform and advise the Pharmacist of stock to be ordered and stock rotations.

    Cold Chain Management and Maintenance

    • Support the pharmacist with conducting cold chain equipment surveys and facility assessments to determine cold chain capacity.
    • Ensure that proper temperature monitoring tools for vaccine distribution to clinics and secondary sites are available and used appropriately.
    • Conduct training on appropriate use of cold chain equipment
    • Ensure compliance to SOPs and guidelines for cold chain equipment.

    Data control

    • Entering of data on the pharmacy data system
    • Preparing of the monthly reports
    • Comparison of Pharmacy data to EVDS data and taking appropriate action.
