    Project Manager - School of Health Systems and Public Health - Faculty of Health Sciences

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Management of the Centre’s operations and human resources:

    Planning, organising and managing the centre’s activities, including people management, programme implementation and taking responsibility for centre’s performance and quality of outputs;
    Compiling the budget and financial reports according to funder requirements and consistent with relevant University policy;
    Monitoring and Evaluation of Programmes and reporting:

    Providing direct monitoring and evaluating technical support to programme staff and projects;
    Undertaking continuous monitoring and evaluating of ATIM projects in line with the plan and submit necessary progress reports to the Director of the centre and funders;
    Compiling regular programme performance reports for projects hosted at the centre;
    Preparing for midterm evaluations and other evaluations required by funding partners.
    Growing Centre’s Research output: 

    Performing other ad-hoc functions within Research and programme implementation;
    Searching for funding opportunities;
    Developing fundable research grant proposals.
     

    Stakeholder relations and strategic partnership:

    Communicating with staff, students and external stakeholders with regards centre’s activity;
    Developing collaborations, manage relationships with relevant stakeholders (academics and students) and strengthen partnerships with diverse organisations;
    Preparing press releases and/or newsletters to engage with the media and public;
    Serving as the centre’s main point of communication (enquiries/emails/telephone calls).
     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master’s or equivalent degree in Social Science or Psychology or Public health or related fields;
    • A minimum of three years’ experience in:
    • Managing donor-funded projects in a university or not-for-profit non-government organizations (NGO) or community-based organisation or relevant sector;
    • Monitoring and Evaluation of projects and programmes;
    • Grant management;
    • Supervisory and people management/HR management.

    Knowledge, skills and understanding of:

    • The South African public health systems;
    • Monitoring and evaluating programmes and projects
    • Public health;
    • Grant proposal writing;

    Senior Administrative Officer: Facilities

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Management and supervision of the facilities unit;
    • Contributing to strategic processes on behalf of the unit; 
    • Maintenance of the Departments buildings, facilities and equipment;

    Lecturer - Department of Humanities Education

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Offering English Language Education programmes in the B.Ed. and PGCE qualifications;
    • Providing postgraduate supervision in English Language Education;
    • Assisting with the assessment of WIL;
    • Course and curriculum development in English Language Education;
    • Teaching English Language Education in a hybrid environment;

    Specialist Talent and Performance Management - Specialist Services Division - Department of Human Resources

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Implement the talent management framework for the institution and monitor and report on the HR and institutional talent management;
    • Design and implement a workforce planning modelling and forecasting framework;
    • Oversee the design, development and implementation of the institution’s talent management framework;
    • Produce tools and resources for individual talent development planning and career development;
    • Develop and maintain a talent retention management framework and strategy for the institution (aligned to the Recruitment and Selection strategy);
    • Evaluate and provide input with regards to UP remuneration strategies to improve retention probabilities to Executive Management in collaboration with the Deputy Director, Specialist Services;
    • Identify and monitor retention risks and ensure diligent market trend analysis on talent retention trends in various job categories including reward and remuneration trends in collaboration with the Deputy Director: Remuneration & Benefits;
    • Develop and maintain a succession management framework for the institution and monitor and report on the HR and institutional succession readiness;
    • Drive the implementation of the University’s performance and talent management strategy;
    • Manage the University’s Performance and Talent Management processes through the design and development of system standards and procedures;
    • Provide guidance and support in the implementation of the performance management system throughout the institution;

    Education Consultant - Department for Education Innovation

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Education Consultant will be required to work on and contribute to Education Innovation initiatives, as well as in the designated Faculty with regards to:

    • providing strategic leadership and change management for curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment to advance teaching and learning in the faculty;
    • collaborating with staff in Education Innovation and the designated Faculty to create, implement, monitor and evaluate curriculum, teaching, assessment and learning platforms, systems and policies for the University as they affect hybrid teaching and learning, particularly in contact environments;
    • engaging directly and building relationships with Faculties, Departments, Teaching and Learning Committees and individual academics;

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Department with specific reference to information ethics, knowledge management, competitive intelligence and research data management;
    • Developing a research programme in an appropriate area of expertise, or expanding existing research programmes;

    Senior Coordinator: Library Web and Systems

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Leading projects to boost the library's digital presence, aligning with academic priorities;
    • Implementing cutting-edge solutions to enhance user interaction with digital resources;
    • Developing policies for digital tool use, ensuring they meet national and international standards;
    • Working with IT and Marketing to improve digital user experiences;
    • Maintaining and enhancing the library's external web page for better user accessibility;

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    • Computer Software and Tools: Knowledge of relevant computer software and tools;
    • Web Technologies and Metadata: Knowledge of web technologies, metadata manipulation, and scripting languages;
    • Academic Library Environment: Understanding of the academic library environment and relevant stakeholders;
    • Benchmarking Techniques: Familiarity with benchmarking techniques;
    • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, set and meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations, priorities, and technologies;
    • Training Development: Experience in developing training materials and documentation;
    • Proficient in HTML and CSS, familiar with web accessibility, information architecture, content management systems, responsive design, and Library Management Systems (LMS);
    • Knowledge of JavaScript, and instructional and graphic design. They should be able to teach technical topics, have experience with LMS systems (preferably Springshare, WorldCat, and WorldShare), and be familiar with LibGuides and LibGuides CMS.
