    Process Engineer

    Job Description:    

    • RCL Foods is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Sugar Business Unit. The role will be based at our Malelane Mill.

    RCL Foods entrusts the Process Engineer to:

    • Manage projects, especially new technologies and their potential application at the Mill.
    • Provide CAPEX motivations, cost estimation, feasibility studies, Post Capex Project reviews, etc.
    • Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to improve boiling house operational efficiencies and recoveries.

    Minimum Requirements;    

    • Tech/BSc Chemical Engineering and Ten-week Sugar Manufacturing Course / Diploma.
    • At least 3 years Sugar Manufacturing experience as an Assistant Production Manager or Process Engineer responsible for Raw-house and/or Refinery
    • Candidates should have intermediate MS Office skills.
    • The ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy is critical to this position.
    • Self-starting, action-orientated individuals with well-developed communication skills should apply.
    • To be considered for appointment, candidate must be a South African citizen.

    Duties & Responsibilities:    

    • Manage projects, especially new technologies and their potential application at the Mill.
    • Provide CAPEX motivations, cost estimation, feasibility studies, Post Capex Project reviews, etc.
    • Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to improve boiling house operational efficiencies and recoveries.
    • Conduct internal benchmarking exercises to identify production best practices and improvement opportunities.
    • Conducting debottlenecking studies, including updating of Speed Profiles, to identify areas of improvement.
    • Lost Opportunity (LOP) analysis to identify areas leading to opportunity losses and liaising with other engineers and/or stakeholders to drive corrective actions.
    • Identify and monitor KPIs to track performance and flag any issues.
    • Conducting and participate in Root Cause Investigations.
    • Commissioning of process units, including providing operator training on new equipment and/or technologies.
    • Address technical process audit findings.
    • Provide technical expertise on complex production issues, support, and advice on solutions.
    • Development of work instructions and standard operating procedures.
    • Support the process team in developing the necessary skills and experience to meet current and future needs, including the coordination and management of Malelane
    • Mill Operator training program and liaising with Learning and Development in identifying skills gaps and skills capacity planning.
    • Mentoring, coaching and technical training of in-service trainee students.
    • Perform Process standby duties.

    Cane Supply Officer

    Job Description    

    • The Cane Supply Officer primary objective of this position is to provide efficient cane supply service to the Pongola Mill and to build and maintain sustainable relationships with cane growers.

    Minimum Requirements:    

    • Diploma/Degree preferably Agriculture Plant Production
    • Qualification/Certificate in Agriculture – Sugar Cane Harvesting
    • Code B Drivers’ license
    • MS Office (proficiency in word and excel)

    Duties & Responsibilities:    

    • Ensure accuracy of growers estimates by maintaining an accurate database.
    • Manage cane delivery agreements.
    • Implementation and maintenance of the GIS mapping and information system
    • Participate in the Land Claims projects through monitoring and constant communication with the communities involved in the project
    • Assist with continued viability of small and medium scale grower
    • Supply of relevant  information to the Mill and Growers
    • Do problem analysis, formulate and implementcorrective action:
    • Create and/or update various reports on computer;
    • Contribute to Cane Supply Department’s strategic plan,
    • Perform standby duties and travel on a daily basis
    • Management of team (performance management, discipline, recruitment, training & development, leave, etc)
    • Report and investigate accidents, incidents and implement preventative measures. 
    • Maintain high quality work standards, comply with safety standards and requirements and ensure good housekeeping in area of responsibility
    • Standby duty dealing with issues on cane and logistics for 24 hours a day for a week every three weeks. During standby, these duties take precedence over other normal duties as they keep the mill supplied with cane.

    Van Sheet Clerk

    Job Description:    

    • To ensure that accurate records captured to ensure correct driver balances

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Minimum Requirements; 

    • Grade 12 (with maths & accounting)
    • 2 - 3 years general financial administration experience

    Duties & Responsibilities:   

    • Back-to-dispatch and Write Off slips must be processed using document type – “RT Returns”
    • Short loads must be processed using document type – “Short Load”
    • Extra loads must be processed using document type – “Extra Load”
    • COD (cash) invoices to be credited using document type – “CR Returns” and the appropriate reason code as per return documents must be provided
    • COD (cash) invoices where more stock was given to must be billed using document type – “Manual Invoice”
    • Account claims must be credited using document type – “CR Returns” and the appropriate reason code as per return documents must be provided
    • After completing all Debits and Credits for Cash and Account customers, then run “Credit Reference” report. Look for any credit note numbers for claim credits given. Write the credit note numbers on the claims (before scanning onto Capisol).
    • Good housekeeping and ad hoc duties, filing and safeguarding of records within area of responsibility
    • Driver changes must be done before 10am in the mornings allocated to each clerk.
    • Extra care must be taken on Sundays when the Finance check won’t happen.
    • Give a copy of the Driver Route Allocations to Telesales as confirmation that printing may be started.
    • Another copy must be given to the Cashier to allocate payments to the correct driver.
    • All paperwork for driver changes must be filed daily.
    • Attend to any outstanding PODs as per the Weekly Exception Report that the Van Sheet Supervisor will make available
    • Driver queries must be resolved before the end of the following working day
    • Driver shortages must be reported to the Distribution Manager on a daily email
    • Any driver adjustment workflows must be submitted within two working days and actioned before the end of the following working day once final authorisation has been obtained.
    • Correct paperwork (as instructed) must be attached to the workflows and the adjustment transactions and filed at all times.
