    Advisor Climate Change and Environment Sustainability

    Job Description

    The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Advisor Climate Change and Environment Sustainability.

    Under the supervision of the Director of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Environmental Sustainability, the Advisor Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability will coordinate the organisation’s efforts in addressing climate change, promoting sustainable resource management practices and environmental governance, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and policies. This role is crucial in steering AU member states and the organisation towards a more sustainable future, aligning with global environmental goals and standards.

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Knowledge of global and regional subject domain issues (Environmental Governance, Natural Resource Management, Biotechnology and Sustainable Development) acquired through extensive work with governments and expert institutions.
    • Ability to communicate clearly links between the Organization's strategy and the work unit's goals.
    • Anticipates and resolves conflicts by pursuing mutually agreeable solutions and consistently drives for change and improvements.

Candidates must have at least ten (10) years of post-qualification experience within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally in:

    • Project or programme management/administration
    • Developing and implementing successful sustainability initiatives
    • Implementation of environmental laws, regulations, and standards.

    Or

    A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Law/Policy, Sustainability or any other related field with at least twelve (12) years post-qualification experience, of which at least five (5) years should be at the management level within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally in:

    • Project or programme management/administration.
    • Developing and implementing successful sustainability initiatives.

    Job Description

    The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Advisor, Agriculture and Food Systems.

    Under the supervision of the Director of Agriculture, Food Systems and Environmental Sustainability, the Advisor, Agriculture, and Food Systems will lead the strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of agriculture and food systems programs. The role focuses on enhancing sustainable agricultural practices, improving food security, and promoting innovative solutions to agricultural challenges within the context of the implementation of the CAADP framework and the Agenda 2026 Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan. The incumbent will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including member states, non-state actors and the private sector, to drive initiatives that align with AUDA-NEPAD’s mission and goals.

    Job Description

    The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Senior Economist.

    Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Economist will play a crucial role in advancing AUDA-NEPAD's socio-economic development objectives, as outlined in the AU Agenda 2063 and the National Development Plans of Member States. The incumbent will provide strategic guidance and advisory services and formulate evidence-based policy actions, informed by thorough economic analysis, to direct and improve the implementation of relevant programmes.

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Ability to apply economic theories and concepts in different sectors of economic and sustainable development, with specific knowledge of issues relating to socio-economic development in Africa;
    • Ability to prepare, present, publish, and assess high-quality industrialization-related research reports and case studies, with a proven history of published papers on relevant matters;

    • In-depth knowledge of industrial development policies, SEZs, MSME development, and financing.
