    Quantity Surveyor

    Job Purpose:

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual, commercial, and financial side of site construction projects. 
    • The professional quantity surveyor shall be concerned with commercial contracts, procurement strategies, measuring and costing of the construction projects.
    • This will cover a wide range of activities which include cost planning, value engineering, value management, feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis, life-cycle costing, risk analysis, tendering, valuation, change control, dispute resolution, claims management, project management, cost estimation, contractual contracting and value for money assessments.

    Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills:

    Pre-Contract:

    • Procurement Support: Assist with bid documents, bidder lists, and recommendations for contract awards.
    • Measurement and Pricing: Use contract documents to measure and price accurately.
    • Documentation Preparation: Prepare Bills of Quantities, preliminaries, contract conditions, and other tender documents.
    • Contract Negotiations: Provide inputs for negotiations and prepare subcontract documents.

    Post-Contract:

    • Commercial Support: Assist Project Management with commercial aspects and inform them of risks.
    • Documentation Maintenance: Keep records of contractual documents and ensure bonds are managed.
    • Cash Flow and Cost Control: Prepare cash flow schedules and control costs.
    • Contractual Advice: Advise on variations, claims, and requirements; ensure contract completeness and validity.
    • Financial Management: Prepare financial statements, interim payment applications, and final accounts.

    Subcontract Management:

    • Contractual Advice: Advise on claims and variations; maintain records.
    • Bond Management: Ensure bonds are managed.
    • Claims Resolution: Resolve financial claims and prepare interim payment certificates.
    • Final Account Management: Measure and prepare final accounts.

    Specific Experience Required:

    • Personality Traits: Creative, positive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
    • Knowledge and Experience: Engineering and construction contracts, contracting models, problem-solving, minimal supervision.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
    • Cost Management: Price forecasting, tender document preparation, budget adjustment, contractor procurement, and work valuation.
    • Logistics and Asset Management: Oversee logistics for assets and support cost centers.

    Profile
    Qualifications

    • B.Eng. or B.Sc /B.Sc Hons/M.Sc degree specializing in Quantity Surveying 
    • Proven track record 
    • Understand core business processes and associated technical solutions
    • Have an innovative and disruptive mindset, constantly looking forward
    • Training and exposure to Contract Management such as NEC 3 or equivalent.
    • University degree/diploma in quantity surveying from a recognized institution
    • Minimum 5 years post qualification related practical experience on large projects with specific experience on industrial projects.
    • Proven experience in the industrial engineering is beneficial.

    HSE Officer - Cape Town

    Job description

    • The role involves providing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) support to projects, maintaining a visible presence at workshops and sites, and coordinating with project managers. The individual is expected to assist in coaching, mentoring, and implementing HSE programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
    • Key duties include the development and regular review of a Safety Management Plan (SMP) for the site, conducting audits for compliance, and organizing safety staff and first aid coverage. The role requires providing direction and resources to project managers, supervisors, team leaders, and safety officers. Incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up actions are crucial aspects of the position, along with ensuring injured workers are offered modified duties.
    • The individual is responsible for keeping safety team training up-to-date, reviewing safety obligations of client projects, and ensuring new employee induction aligns with company requirements. Maintenance of safety boards with relevant postings, including Health and Safety policy, inspection results, and project hazard assessments, is emphasized. Additionally, the candidate is expected to make sure essential materials such as 3C Metal Belmet’s HSE Manual, safety forms, and relevant documents are available on-site.
    • Participation in audits such as ISO 45001 and ISO 9001, effective communication, coaching, and assistance to staff for meeting safety expectations are key components of the role. Regular coordination meetings with the safety team to review issues, trends, and upcoming projects are required. The position also involves compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, legal, and regulatory requirements outlined by the company.
    • In addition to safety responsibilities, the role includes management of rigging store control, safety committee attendance, safety walkabouts, safety incentive schemes, and oversight of routine and non-routine lifts. Facility and equipment management is also part of the duties.
    • Overall, the position requires a comprehensive approach to safety management, regulatory compliance, and effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders to ensure a safe work environment for employees, contractors, visitors, and the community.

    Project Engineer

    QC Administrator

    Job Purpose: 

    • To support the Quality Manager and QC Inspectors in the daily administration of quality process.

    Responsibilities

    • Clean up Quality Control folder on M-Files
    • Remove any obsolete folders
    • Remove duplicate folders and documents
    • Go through all documents for compliance to ISO 9001- 2015
    • All document logo's to be standardized
    • All work instructions to be updated to be relevant to 3C Metal Belmet SA, 3C Metal Belmet Namibia and Port Nolloth
    • Populate new welders matrix with all welders and processes, including hyperlinks and notification formulas.
    • Ensure all welders have relevant certificates and that they are up to date.
    • Ensure there is a hard copy file for all welders’ certificates that is up to date.
    • Make sure the welders matrix / register, folders and certification are kept up to date.
    • Create and populate New WPS / PQR matrix to be in line with 3CMetal Belmet template.
    • Clean up WPS / PQR folder and file.
    • Go through current WPS / PQR folders with to ensure all PQR's have all necessary and relevant documentation.
    • WPS / PQR folders to be streamlined and categorized, those with all relevant documents and those with-out or obsolete documentation.
    • Ensure there is a complete hard copy file and M-Files folders co-inside.
    • Make sure that the WPS / PQR matrix and folders are kept up to date.
    • Responsible for the updating of the welders tracking spreadsheet.
    • Clean up welding consumable file and create a folder on the M-Files for consumable certificates
    • Make up a welding consumable register. (Welding consumable folder to be relevant to 3C Metal Belmet SA, 3C Metal Belmet Namibia and Port Nolloth)
    • Make out all DNV Offshore Certificates and get DNV approvals.
    • Assist Namibia QC Co-ordinator with QC Admin functions.
    • Maintain an organized administrative system for the Quality department
    • Maintain a professional reception

    Duties

    • Compile data books
    • Arrange NDT request
    • Maintain Quality database
    • Complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations

    Profile
    Knowledge

    •  A sound knowledge of Quality documentation is preferable. 

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 3 years administrative experience, preferably in a QC department

    Piping Team leader/Supervisor

    Job Purpose

    Lead, Coordinate and Supervise a Piping/Boilermaking Team, in such a manner that all company, quality, safety and client specifications are adhered to.

    Duties

    • Allocation of Pipe Fitters, Boilermakers & other Team members to tasks.
    • Monitor Production & Fit up/fabrication progress, Maintain Quality and productivity of Team members.
    • Report to Management any production related and non-conformance issues.
    • Estimate the time to be allocated to specific jobs and monitor this accordingly. 
    • Trouble Shoot defects in conjunction with Quality and other team members, and report on possible causes and solutions to Management.
    • Assign tasks and targets to personnel on site in close coordination with management.(Subject to the workload, project and company requirements).
    • Assign personnel (depending on their qualifications, abilities and experience) to the project in close coordination with the Workshop Supervisor to meet deadlines of ongoing projects.

    • Proven Track record in starting as Artisan & moving up to a being  Team leader/Supervisor in Engineering or related companies(Welding, Pipe fitting, Steel Production)

    Senior Project Manager

    Job Purpose:

    • We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team at 3C Metal Belmet, Bellville, Stikland. This role will primarily be based in our workshops, with none to minimal travel to different sites.

    Project Manager Responsibilities:

    • Project Coordination: Evaluate project requirements and obtain quotes. Plan, budget, oversee, and document all project aspects. Prepare tenders and manage project execution.
    • Technical Expertise: Utilize 3D modeling and shop detailing skills. Lead technical review meetings and ensure manpower utilization at the project level.
    • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, quality, and legal regulations. Coordinate surveys and implement production and safety policies.
    • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with clients and stakeholders to clarify technical project aspects. Maintain contact throughout projects to address any concerns.
    • Resource Management: Coordinate equipment, stock, and maintenance operations. Procure raw materials and manage fabrication progress.
    • Change Management: Prepare and obtain approvals for project change or variation orders. Assist in developing fabrication data books and project summaries.
    • Business Development: Identify and develop new clients/markets with management consent. Participate in safety system development and commercial contacts.
    • Team Leadership: Supervise, monitor, and train Project Engineers. Perform any other necessary tasks for business operations.

    This role requires meticulous project management skills, technical proficiency, compliance adherence, stakeholder engagement, resource management, change management, business development acumen, and leadership abilities.

    Profile

    Experience:

    • 10+ years' experience as a Project Manager in an Oil and Gas, Renewable energy, or related environment.
    • Experience in heavy fabrication is a mus

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering will be advantageous, but not required.
