Telecommunications Application Support Specialist at FNB South Africa

Role Purpose

To protect and ensure the stability of the telecommunications operational system as well as maintaining the integrity of the data and proactively resolve customer queries by providing technical support on various applications.

Responsibilities

• Prevent wastage and identify process improvements to contain and reduce costs
• Contribute to the retention of customers and managing the experience to ensure quality service delivery on all applications_LOW2
• Configure, test and maintain telecom operational systems_LOW2
• Develop, encourage and nurture collaborative relationships within FNB and/or across the FRG
• Assess own performance through seeking timely, and clear feedback and request training where appropriate
• Plan for value-added process improvements, initiatives and services to deliver on operational strategy and objectives and review outputs
• Ensure compliance to legislative and audit requirements and adherence to relevant processes
• Deliver internal and external customer service excellence through adherence to quality service standards

Additional Requirements

• Knowledge of Java programming language as well as various related third-party software components and libraries (eg: log4j, various Apache projects etc)
• Experience with client/server architectures, web services, SSL
• Understand and interpret architectural system design documents
• Experience managing production systems running in a Java environment
• Strong knowledge of Linux, Syslog, SSH, SFTP, Wireshark
• Experience with client/server architectures, web services, SSL
• Understand and interpret system architectural designs
• Experience in writing SQL and Oracle DB scripts
• Monitor and understand system operations and performance, plan and implement improvements.
• Ability to build database

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Qualification - Relevant Degree
• Experience - 3 to 5 year’s experience in a similar environment, of which 1 to 2 years ideally at junior (entry level) management level
