    Technologist

    Critical Performance Areas 

    • Conduct laboratory practicals for undergraduate as well as post graduate students. 
    • Proven initiative or the ability to design and improve practicals. 
    • Assist Academic staff with research and innovation opportunities. 
    • Knowledgeable in Occupational Health and Safety 
    • Liaise with Industry 
    • Budget and Financial planning of Laboratory Fees and Levies 
    • Develop Industrial Engineering Project Work and manage the projects. 
    • Involved in advertising of the Industrial engineering profession at schools and during open days. 
    • Plan capital replacement and submit to the Head of Department 
    • Be at the cutting edge of industry changes and needs in terms of Process Improvement, Business Processes and Simulation Software’s. 

     Minimum Requirements 

    • MTech/ Masters: Industrial Engineering or Engineering Management 

    Experience:

    • A minimum of three years teaching and/or industry experience as senior technician

    Knowledge and Skills 

    • General laboratory skills 
    • Knowledge of SHE requirements, policies and legislation. 
    • Good communication skills. 
    • Computer skills. 
    • Own transport recommended. 

    Registration with professional body (if applicable): 

    • Registration with SAIIE will be an added advantage. 
    • ECSA registration will be an added advantage.
