Technologist/Technician: Molecular Biology at Ampath

Purpose of Position:

To process specimens according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the Molecular Biology Laboratory

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Honours, HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field, National Diploma: Biomedical Technology

Required Experience:

• Experiential training in a training laboratory, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse specimens on the different detection platforms in order to ensure efficient delivery of results
• Assist in development and evaluation of new assays when required
• Conduct Training and Assessment functions to ensure competent employees
• Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath
• Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath
• Perform HIV viral loads efficiently to ensure acceptable turn around time
• Process specimens in the extraction area in order to ensure efficient delivery of results in the detection area
