    Technical Farm Manager

    Our client is looking for a Technical Farm Manager to join the team.
     
    Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum 5 years’ previous experience of commercial crop farming is essential.
    • Excellent mechanical knowledge and experience.
    • Understanding of modern agricultural practices.  
    • Knowledge of tractors, implements and harvesting equipment.
    • Knowledge of crop chemical usage and maintenance of mechanical equipment. 
    • Prior experience in workshop management on a farm will be advantageous.
    • Diligence, precision, accuracy, and execution form an integral part of the successful candidate’s daily operation.
    • Strong mentoring and leadership skills and an ability to maintain discipline within the work-team are an absolute must for this position.
    • Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills. 
    • Proficiency in both English. Proficiency in isiXhosa is an added advantage. 
    • A valid driver’s license. 

     RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    •  Direct and co-ordinate worker activities, such as planting, chemical application, harvesting.
    • Determine procedural changes in field operations such as planting, spraying and other activities related to cropping for greater efficiency and accuracy.
    • Coordinate growing activities with those of engineering, equipment maintenance, packing houses, and other related departments.
    • Work closely with the maintenance staff ensuring that all equipment, machinery, and facilities are kept to an optimum level.
    • Manage a team of tractor operators providing support and training on best practises.
    • Inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning.
