    Superintendent (Port Elizabeth Warehouse)

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Matric.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the Warehouse environment.
    • Freight Handling certificate.
    • Previous experience in a Managerial and /or Supervisory role.

    Key Responsibilities

    Management & Reporting

    • Maintain a clear understanding of your specific clients SLA's and KPI measures.
    • Perform daily tasks within the requirements of the WH customers as set out in their respective SLA's.
    • Monitor WMS's and address any problems/queries (stock control and stock count, checking available space and creating space).
    • Initiate coaching, counselling, and disciplinary actions for all subordinates.
    • Ensure maximum productivity of WH staff and subordinates.
    • Monitor the use of Labour Broker staff.
    • Manage departmental costs by ensuring that operational costs are kept to a minimum unless authorised by Operations/ Facility Manager.
    • Actively participate and initiate improvement in projects.

    Receipts, Picking and Despatch

    • Ensure that daily planning of incoming cargo is done so that sufficient space and resources are available to accept the cargo.
    • Monitor that Compliance Inspection checklists have been completed prior to a vehicle/truck entering the premises.
    • Ensure that all vehicles and containers are unpacked within agreed transporter standing times and all cargo is received and put away within the agreed timeframes as per client SLA's.
    • Ensure that all discrepancies and damages identified during the receipt of product is communicated to the client and resolved within agreed timeframes.
    • Ensure that all daily pickings are completed, and customer orders are collected within agreed times as per clients SLA's.
    • Monitor and record picking productivity and ensure that pickers have been given targets against which they are measured. Ensure maximum picking productivity through daily tracking.
    • When despatching, ensure that all products have been correctly checked by the WH Checker and that the delivery note has been signed by the Checker, the transporter, and the on-site security.
    • Ensure that all products being despatched has been correctly labelled and secured onto a pallet or into a carton in order to reduce the risk of losses and damages.
    • Ensure that all receiving information, picking stats and despatching information is recorded daily for monthly billing and daily KPI reporting.

    Stock Counts and Cycle Counts

    • Ensure that daily and weekly cycle counts are conducted according to client SLA's and requests.
    • Ensure that all cycle counts are signed off and stock balances corrected in conjunction with Operations Manager and client where applicable.
    • Quarterly, Bi-annual and Annual stock counts are to be conducted in line with client requirements. These are to be planned and executed without disrupting day to day client operations.
    • Stock Take Reports are to be compiled post all inventory counts and are to be filed and kept for future reference and client queries.
    • CHEP PALLETS must be counted on a weekly basis.
    • A CHEP Recon template must be completed and submitted on a weekly basis.
    • Present evidence to support variances between the BIL recon template and CHEP invoices.

    SHERQ

    • To participate actively in the SHERQ programmes that are implemented in the facility.
    • Prepare for, attend, and contribute to the facility monthly Management and Safety Meetings.
    • Prepare operational AR's and investigate all incidents by close of business when identified.
    • Adhere to and comply with BIL SHEMS requirements and with BIL Quality Management System.
    • Conduct internal audits on processes as and when required.
    • Ensure that all spills are contained immediately using the right MSDS. Always discuss in the BAT.
