SQL Data Developer - Capex at Datacentrix

Purpose:

• Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking, analysing and resolving data flows across multiple SQL sources (tables, views, etc.), data transformation & calculations.  Data migration from various sources or systems.   Knowledge of Tableau would be advantageous.

Key tasks:

• Deployment of Data standards and procedures
• Design, Plan and develop data integration layers
• Performance tuning and optimization of data structures and built logic layers (Queries, Stored Procedures, Views, etc.).
• Deployment of Databases
• Perform development and testing.
• Perform ad-hoc data extractions and imports
• Build and publish ad-hoc reports
• Design, plan and develop data structures for new in-house development projects
• Perform Data migrations between servers and databases
• User management
• Security management
• Enforce and entrench data governance rules and procedures.
• Management of Data environments
• Backup strategies
• Storage and capacity planning

Key dimensions:

• The incumbent will be expected to function within a project team, meeting with stakeholders, providing critical input for business decisions, be part of effective cooperative development (JAD). This might require traveling for meetings and workshops as the company landscape is vast.

Qualifications:

• Completed Computer Science Diploma/Degree, or other relevant qualification.
• Completed Matric (Grade 12)
• Valid RSA Driver’s License

Experience:

3-6 Years’ experience relating to:

• Advanced Database experience (MS SQL 2005, 2008, 2012)
• Advanced Reporting experience (MS SSRS 2005, 2008,2012)
• Advanced ETL experience (MS SSIS 2005, 2008, 2012)
• Advanced SQL Server configuration / optimization capabilities
• Advanced IT skills to support hardware, software and understanding of networks (LAN / WAN)
• Apply and Implement Best Practice Techniques while developing.
• Moderate system analysis skills

Beneficial Experience in:

• MS SQL 2000 knowledge and experience
• Engagement with Power BI / Tableau Reporting tools
• Collibra

• This MS SQL Server Data Developer role requires a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the business requirements, establishing and maintaining communication within the project teams to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on systems (Dev. Test, Pre-Prod & Prod) and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.
