    Specialist - Project Reporting Finance

    Project Accounting

    • Responsible for the creation and timely provision of all required project accounting reports.
    • Responsible for the creation and provision of all required project accounting reporting forecasts.
    • Responsible for the creation and provision of all daily / weekly / monthly; project accounting reporting requirements of actuals against forecasts.
    • Responsible for the creation and provision of all month end reporting requirements to ensure that the relevant reports are submitted to Finance for the monthly financial pack consolidation.
    • Continually improve existing project accounting reporting policies, processes and procedures to enhance effectiveness, efficiency and performance
    • Compile, update and implement relevant reporting policies, processes and procedures (PPP). 
    • Align systems to PPP and assist with automation thereof to ensure compliance.

    To report on all capex project accounting functions for MTN RSA and to report on the project budget of MTN RSA in order to realize maximum business benefits.

    Project Accounting

    • Responsible for the creation and timely provision of all required project accounting reports.
    • Responsible for the creation and provision of all required project accounting reporting forecasts.
    • Responsible for the creation and provision of all daily / weekly / monthly; project accounting reporting requirements of actuals against forecasts.
    • Responsible for the creation and provision of all month end reporting requirements to ensure that the relevant reports are submitted to Finance for the monthly financial pack consolidation.

    Cost Control

    • Recommend and assist the business with budget inputs and forecast reviews as requested by Business Finance.
    • Manage the implementation of new budgets and forecasts. Ensure that all approved adjustments are reflected on the effected project budgets.
    • Review departmental project budgets and reports to ensure that budgets are not overspent.
    • Understand and report on all major variances from the budget
    • Report on spend vs. forecasts to budget. Analyse cash flow per department and inform finance accordingly.
    • Ensure implementation of all financial business rules for projects.
    • Assist in planning budget spending according to situation and standards
    • Identify areas where money is lost and recommend ways to reduce expenditure where possible.
    • Ensure the efficient use of financial resources, and that spending remains within budget limits.
    • Consolidate financial accruals for all work schedules not yet invoiced.

    Project Accounting Query Resolution

    • Address escalated problems relating to project accounting on a case by case basis, ensuring an optimal balance between the response to the situation, the cost of that response and the core purpose of the organisation
    • Follow clear and linear procedures to diagnose and solve accounting-related problems that are not always obvious
    • Provide information and knowledge as required to resolve problems
    • Tailor solutions to suit the problem (within defined parameters)
    • Take action to prevent the reoccurrence of problems
    • Make use of available resources to solve the problem
    • Identify external parties to assist with problem solving as required

    Information Management

    Update progress tracking information and reports at project portfolio level

    • Reporting
    • Responsible for the creation & timely provision of all required reporting functions of the project accounting office.
    • Create and provide all required daily / weekly / monthly project reports.
    • Compile the month end reporting pack.
    • Identify and prepare relevant information and data for reporting purposes
    • Compile ad hoc reporting requirements as and when required by the different business units as well as MTN Group.
    • Assist business and finance in quarterly forecasts with regards to project costs.

    • Consider the implications of actions to be taken for the customer / the effect of actions on the customer
    • Understand the immediate consequence and impact of activity on the customer
    • Report and escalate issues as and when required to the responsible person to ensure continuous Operational Support
    • Respond to customer queries in line with set guidelines
    • Escalate unresolved queries timorously
    • Ensure that customer specifications are met and that the customer is satisfied with the end service and/or product
    • Deliver first time right service excellence

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

    Education:

    • Minimum of 3 year degree B. Com Accounting)
    • Fluent in English

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project accounting; with experience in supervising/managing others
    • Reporting to senior management experience
    • Experience working in a medium to large organization
