Senior SQL Database Administrator at Europa Worldwide Group

Are you an experience SQL Database Administrator looking for a new challenge?

We are currently looking for a Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our fantastic IT Infrastructure team!

• You will perform day-to-day tasks of keeping databases up and running including change management, reviewing database structures, security, and authorisation, maintaining backup and recovery processes to a high level, taking appropriate database backups and confirming they are stored correctly.
• Undertake database management, to ensure servers are optimised for resource usage in line with business applications. Working closely with Development DBAs to ensure systems have resource structures in place for BAU and future growth.

Our Ideal Person:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience of maintaining a DBA role.
• Microsoft Azure experience.
• Experience in migrating SQL services to an Always On environments.
• Must be Microsoft Certified.
• Must have a Production DBA background, ideally involving MSSQL technologies.
• Will have a personality which will both fit into and enrich our team.

In this role, you will:

• Act as an escalation point for operational support issues and remediation / root cause analysis
• Determine the scope of implementations and resource planning required and present technical and business consulting to the wider business
• Utilise hands on technical implementation skills using technologies such as SQL queries and PowerShell scripting
• Produce technical proposal and manage risks and bottlenecks
• Act as an escalation point within the team and work closely with Data Governance and Data Protection to ensure data is protected at all time
• Lead on progress projects and deliver through from conceptual to production.
• Work closely with IT developers on continuous integration and projects
• Undertake impact analysis in order to monitor performance and implement fit-for-purpose solutions to meet business requirements
• Take ownership of the delivery of the infrastructure strategy and associated milestones; including backups, restores, alerting and monitoring
• Lead, motivate and develop colleagues in line with the culture, values and expectations of the organisation
• Perform database troubleshooting
• Participate in an on-call rota to provide out of hours support to the business
• Undertake SQL and OS Patching cycles of SQL nodes, in line with business maintenance windows
• Maintain best practice whilst building SQL nodes / server environments, along with post configuration of the SQL software
• Undertake any other duties as requested by their line manager, commensurate with the role.
