Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements: Senior Lecturer:

• A Doctors Degree in a Design field (e.g Visual Communication/Fashion/Product /Jewellery Design)
• At least four (4) years’ relevant lecturing experience
• Successful supervision of post-graduates to completion
• Record of publications in peer reviewed journals

Recommendations:

• At least 4 years of Industry experience
• Internal applications interested in higher level academic positions are also encouraged to apply for ad hominem promotion if they are eligible.
• To ensure fairness and consistency all applications must satisfy the ad hominempromotion criteria for the relevant academic level

Minimum Requirements: Lecturer:

• A Master’s Degree in a Design field (e.g Visual Communication/Fashion/Product/Jewellery Design)
• At least two (2) years’ relevant lecturing experience

Recommendations

• At least 2 years of Industry experience

• Lectures subjects within the field of Theory of Design, Research through Design, Contemporary Design Research Methods
• Participate in curriculum development at undergrad and postgraduate level
• Perform appropriate academic and administrative and leadership duties in the Department
• Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department
• Participate in research activities
• Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into the curriculum.
• Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co-operative education, new techniques/technologies and research projects
• Assist with marketing and recruitment activities
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
