    Senior Growth Manager - SSA

At Spotify, we're focused on providing the right music for every moment. We've connected millions of people to their favorite songs and created a service that people use to discover and share music they love.

We now seek an outstanding candidate to join the MEA Growth team, leading our user growth efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa. This role requires a good understanding of the region. The role is perfect for a digital marketer that has a strong strategic mentality and understands how to drive user growth and conversion to Premium in the region.

The role will be based in our Johannesburg office in South Africa, and will require travel to other Spotify offices and regional markets. The team is part of the bigger Freemium Business Unit, with the mission to bring Spotify to more users across the globe.

    What You'll Do:

    • Your mission will be to implement and roll out the growth strategy with the goal of growing both free and paid user base
    • Your primary objective is to drive more subscribers in the region, but also look at engaging and retaining our free users
    • You will implement marketing campaigns on owned media channels to drive subscriber growth across the Spotify Premium portfolio and/or engage current free users. You be responsible for this process from brainstorming to planning, briefing, asset creation, asset trafficking throughout owned channels (email, in-app notifications, etc.), campaign analysis, and overall project management
    • You will also look at growing Premium awareness and consideration, through paid media campaigns, in collaboration with our consumer marketing team
    • You are responsible for understanding customer, industry, and competitor trends/behaviours in the region (macro, external, internal). Based on that, you will identify growth opportunities
    • Additionally, you will optimize subscriber growth along the whole conversion funnel – from onboarding, migration and retention. You work with global internal teams and selected external partners to drive those initiatives
    • You will work closely with other teams, especially local consumer marketing, Artist and label partnerships, and business development. That's how you ensure maximum growth across all the business levers that we have at our disposal
    • You’ll be the main liaison between the growth team and the Sub-saharan Africa team
    • You will also work with the wider Freemium team, based across the globe, to address challenges in conversion, payment, engagement, retention, etc

    Who You Are:

    • You have 7+ years of working experience with at least three years of relevant industry experience in an online consumer business (streaming services, e-commerce, online media or a tech start-up)
    • You have worked on digital marketing campaigns and CRM before
    • You are comfortable rolling up your sleeves and completing things yourself – whether it's programming an email, pulling some queries or quickly adjusting an image in Photoshop
    • You are very comfortable using various tools to analyze, test, and implement online marketing activities (e.g. Google Analytics, email management/CRM, SQL) and possess the core technical skills needed to get the job done or are otherwise a quick learner (e.g. basic HTML editing, running simple sql queries, etc.)
    • You speak English. Any additional language from the region is a plus
    • Good knowledge and insights into the Sub-saharan Africa (online) consumer market and media landscape.
    • You are comfortable working remotely from other team members, but even so, manage to stay in sync and influence internal partners by being an excellent communicator
    • You have a proven record of leading and completing projects independently and getting things done in a cross-functional organization. You will not always have direct control of all the resources, but you still get the job done
    • You hold a Bachelor's Degree or a similar degree from a top-ranked school
