Senior Data Scientist at Mediclinic

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To use business data, visualisation and statistical methods to conduct analysis and provide insight and foresight into business performance; suggest analytical approaches and methodologies of improving operational performance; research, design and implement state of the art machine learning solutions to enhance the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Support relevant business stakeholders through the application of advanced analytics, statistical modelling and machine learning
• Maintain and enhance statistical and machine learning models
• Promote the adoption of advanced data science and analytics across the organisation
• Support and leverage data management
• Mentor, develop and advise Data Scientists

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• B.sc Hons  with 7 years relevant experience
• Or Masters Degree with 5 years relevant experience
• Or Ph.D. with 2 years relevant experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:  relevant working experience in data science building and implementing predictive models

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in the healthcare industry

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Advanced analytics and understanding of machine learning algorithms e.g. Neural networks, boosting methods, clustering and random forest models
• Critical and anlytical thinking skills and inquisitiveness to discover patterns with data
• Data science, mathematics, statistics, curiosity and creative problem solving
• Derive value from analytical output by explaining insights in layman’s terms
• Exceptionally good computer skills and all-around technologically adept
• Knowledge and ability to build and deploy machine learning solutions using open-source and cloud technologies
• Knowledge of the Healthcare industry and related trends
• Managing data-driven projects that drive business value
• Presentation and data storytelling skills (Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics, Power BI) to audiences from all levels of the company
• Programming skills in scripting languages such as SAS, R, Python and SQL
