Section Engineer Production at Anglo American

Job Description:

• The Section Engineer is a 2.13.3.1 appointment in terms of the MHS Act and is responsible to provide operational service and support to the Resident Engineer.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Ensuring adherence to site-specific and overall Anglo American standards.
• Multi-disciplinary team management
• Strategic Asset management including planned maintenance and common reliability practices
• Safety Management
• Labour structure and training management
• Effective Budgeting Controls (OPEX and CAPEX)
• Management of Major shutdowns
• Oversee plant projects (within limit of authority)
• Ensuring adherence to Legal compliance
• Manage plant rotables and spares
• Carry out 1st ,2nd and 3rd line maintenance.

This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Resident Engineer.

Qualifications:

• Degree / Diploma in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical
• Government Certificate of competency in Mines and Works

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• 3-5 years post GCC Engineering qualification experience 
• Plant experience will be advantageous (Crushers, conveyors, mills, floatation and filters, etc)
• Experience in open cast mining (Drills, shovels, trucks, electrical and water reticulation, etc)
• Proficient in computer literacy – Microsoft office
• Proficiency in English
