    Psychologist - (1843)

    The Successful Candidate will be Responsible for:

    • Provision of Individual and Support Group Facilitation and Counseling
    • Response to mental health and wellness emergencies where admissions are required to ensure the safety and well-being of students (includes availability after hours)
    • Design and Implement Initiatives that strengthen individual and community resilience, as part of a mental health and wellness team 
    • Submission of relevant reports in respect of KPA's
    • Assessment and collaborating on a treatment/case management plan with clients in the interests of supporting them in order for them to complete their academic programme 
    • With the client’s permission (where the client is able to do so), collaborate with faculty, staff, and other professionals to provide the best care possible
    • Ensure all services are completed according to relevant ethical and professional standards of care
    • Ensuring compliance with all relevant policies of the Institution and ethical obligations within the scope and practice of the HPCSA’s registration prescripts
    • Engagement with relevant legislation and partnering with all relevant key stakeholders in the best interests of securing the best possible outcome for the student in crisis
    • Psychoeducation activities and the development of relevant resource materials 
    • Training of student leaders and frontline staff in containment and referral techniques
    • Through research and analysis, staying abreast of the latest developments and ensuring that current strategic deliverables in the area is contextually relevant and submission of reports for the fore-mentioned (includes Comprehensive analysis of trends, treatment strategies, value-add activities, collaborations, impacting factors and recommendations for future considerations).

    Minimum Requirements

    • Professional Qualifications: MA (Counselling/Clinical Psychology)
    • 2 years' experience working as an HPCSA registered Psychologist
    • Sound theoretical understanding of principles, ethics and practices in the Psychology Profession
    • Demonstrated experience working with young adults 
    • Demonstrated experience of Community involvement in respect of programme design and implementation 
    • Demonstrated ability to network across various support organisations
    • Must have a valid driver’s license
    • Must be prepared to be available for after hours emergencies interventions and support
    • Current HPCSA Registration as a counselling or clinical psychologist
