    Professional Officer - Coastal Management

    Requirements

    • A relevant B degree or First Degree (BSc Honours, Natural Sciences, e.g., Coastal management, Environmental Management, Conservation, ecological restoration and management, Botany, Zoology, Marine Biology or similar)
    • A minimum of 2-3 years relevant specialist experience
    • Experience in Coastal management advantageous
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • A valid driver’s licence (and own transport preferable)

    Key Performance Areas

    • Draft, prepare and implement coastal precinct management Plans for City coastal precincts
    • Day to day management of activities on the coast and all coastal public property
    • Coordination and implementation of measures to manage coastal processes, beach levels and wind-blown sand
    • Identifying and implementing dune rehabilitation and maintenance needs and resources required
    • Assists in planning, prioritising and scheduling of project and maintenance work
    • Project and contract management for coastal projects
    • Manage and implement general coastal repairs and maintenance
    • Respond to emergency requests and manage unscheduled work
    • Ensure the City’s coastal policies and legislation (NEMA,
    •  ICMA and Coastal Bylaw) is effectively implemented.
    • Communicating, liaising and working transversally across line departments, and with internal and external stakeholders
    • Performs specific administrative tasks/ activities associated with the updating and maintaining of records/ information related to the activities/ operations at the coastal areas/facilities 

    The successful candidates will be required to work in all weather conditions, at sea, and work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned activities
