    Portfolio Oversight Analyst

    Job Summary

    Responsible for providing oversight, input and challenge of performance by setting minimum standards and monitoring performance. To manage the development of impairment, Capital and Stress Testing models through specialist teams.

     

     

    Job Description

    • Responsible for providing oversight, input and challenge of performance by setting minimum standards and monitoring performance.  To manage the development of impairment, Capital and Stress Testing models through specialist teams.

    Responsible for ensuring the Business performance adheres to the approved standards set and provide ways to improve the Portfolio performance: This includes the following actions:

    • Manage and co-ordinate the development of reporting requirements and portfolio measures for the product Risk Management team through the Absa’s committee structures.
    • Own the Risk Data and Risk Reporting process for the Business by providing guidance to the relevant embedment teams.
    • Ensure business originated for existing customers is within stated Risk Appetite
    • Support and aid the development of impairment and regulatory type models, i.e. Impairment; Capital (Regulatory & Economic); Stress Testing.
    • Sourcing, consolidating and analyzing large data sets, utilizing strong SAS skills and identifying anomalies/trends.
    • Present key credit trends and highlight recommendations and risk mitigation plans to the relevant Risk Management Head by either extracting data from within own team or consolidating data from central MI team.
    • Identifying gaps in Acquisitions, Portfolio Management and Collections & Recoveries processes and strategies and providing solutions to closing the gaps/streamlining processes.
    • Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including Sales, IT, Front end, Collections, Operations, Finance and other Risk & Business teams.
    • Presentation of analytical results and proposals to both technical and non-technical audiences, providing commentary as required.
    • Contribute (strategically) to building the vision and developing successful practices for the Business and the wider Risk Management Team.
    • Actively manage and improve the risk-based profitability of the portfolio.
    • Ensure that all strategies comply with ABSA credit risk policies and framework
    • Your ability to display strategic risk experience as well as solid SAS/Data Analytics skills will serve you well in this role. A strong quantitative, statistics and/or actuarial background with a track record of running with an entire project from conceptualization, to extraction of data, to formulating strategies and subsequent impacts of implementation through to excellent stakeholder engagement and management will be an added advantage

    Education

    • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
