Mergers and Acquisition Manager: Corporate Tax Consulting at BDO South Africa

 BDO Cape Town has a vacancy for a Mergers and Acquisition Manager within the Corporate Tax Consulting business unit in the Tax Department. The incumbent will be reporting to Corporate Tax Consulting Director . You will inter alia be responsible for:

• Assisting BDO to achieve its financial targets driving the BDO brand, business development, technical tax competence and client service in line with BDO values
• Assisting in development of client presentation / discussion documentation
• Interpreting and applying theoretical knowledge to a practical business solution by utilising a sound knowledge of income tax and corporate law
• Actively builds business relationships that generate leads
• Working on a range of buy-side / sell-side transactions
• Transaction structuring
• Drafting technically correct opinions and reports for review and reviewing tax opinions and advise to be provided to clients and the audit department
• Gathering information from different sources by using effective research tools
• Evaluating shareholding structures and related company documentation to understand implications for envisaged transactions
• Assisting with research and preparation of proposals and fee quotes
• Identifying income tax issues arising at clients and use various tools and techniques to provide advice and recommendations on how to solve them
• Adapting to a changing work environment and accommodate changing client demands
• Liaising with audit partners and audit staff with regards to tax issues
• Visiting clients to remediate tax issues and assist clients with SARS audit and queries
• Managing and maintaining client relationships
• Preparing and managing budgets, debtors and monthly invoices and administrative tasks related to practice management
• Producing accurate work and client deliverables to a high technical standard while coaching and mentoring junior staff
• Managing and developing subordinates in the corporate tax consulting team
• Quality control of technical deliverables

Requirements
Qualifications:

• B Honours Business Science / Finance Postgraduate qualification in Business Science / BCom / relevant financial degree
• Postgraduate qualification in Tax Advantageous
• CA(SA) Advantageous  
• CFA Advantageous

Experience:

• 3 – 6 years’ experience in Corporate Tax and technical advisory
• Managerial experience
• Tax structuring and mergers and acquisition experience
• Commercial experience advantageous
• Experience working with and interpreting financial accounting records
