    Maintenance Planner - Boksburg

    Main Responsibilities

    • Delegating maintenance tasks to the rest of the team, and finding relevant vendors and service providers
    • Developing maintenance plans and implementing them
    • Custodian for SAP EAM and program execution
    • Control the issuing of the engineering spares/materials (new and used) in the engineering stores
    • Keeping track and ordering of supplies, consumables, material and spare parts inventories for the maintenance department
    • Keeping track and ordering of supplies and consumables for the production department
    • Purchasing any equipment, tools, or materials that may be required
    • Updating maintenance logs for all machinery
    • Supporting requirements regarding Asset Tagging and Asset Management
    • Assessing procedures and making recommendations for improvement
    • Monitors the stock items in the engineering stores and replenish as needed
    • Assists during the stock take activities of the Engineering parts/stock
    • Ensuring that CFP (Colgate Financial Policy) expectations are consistently met

    FP&R

    • Assists in the implementation of Planned Maintenance and Autonomous maintenance standards as part of the FP&R standards.
    • Provides Planned/ Autonomous Maintenance KPIs to the FP&R coordinator.
    • Purchase the supplies needed for AM and PM activities such as (Grease, Rags, Brooms, Mops, etc.)
    • Identify FTG opportunities/ initiatives

    Planning 

    • Develops short and long term maintenance schedules and ensures that maintenance schedules are always up to date.
    • Negotiates plant availability with the Production Planner.
    • Implements plant maintenance schedules through liaison with the artisan/technicians
    • Follow up with artisans to ensure that the maintenance plan is implemented according to the schedule.

    Maintenance Activities

    • Controls all maintenance inspection records.
    • Coordinate maintenance activities among the engineering staff.
    • Hosting the Maintenance Planning meetings.
    • Preparing and Sharing dashboards for Maintenance KPIs and SAP Notifications.
    • Participates in problem solving/root cause analysis activities in the engineering department (related to mechanical reliability of machines).

    Documentation 

    • Implements and coordinates technicians job card system and track labour effectiveness.
    • Captures and analyses failure history of various equipment in the plant for further investigation by the engineering department.
    • Generates reports on plant performance and makes information available for the
    • artisan/technicians and other employees on the maintenance board.

    Managing Materials and Services

    • Is able to determine material planning needs for maintenance activity schedule/condition.
    • Is able to translate historical performance and maintenance information into accurate parts inventory levels.

    Continuous Improvement 

    • Uses data and information to develop/modify preventive maintenance schedules and identify potential improvements related to equipment.
    • Understands and applies the Asset Effectiveness Model.
    • Participates in Continuous Improvement activities to improve line performance.
    • Share ideas, knowledge and best practices to improve processes and solve problems.
    • Works to standardised best practices.

    EOHS and Quality Leadership 

    • Leads by example and demands safe behaviours and awareness, sound environmental practices and commitment to Quality.
    • Understands own role and responsibility as well as that of others in implementing EHS and Quality standards and guidelines.
    • Takes corrective actions in a timely manner to mitigate potential EHS or Quality incidents.
    • Abides by facility safety and GMP requirements and sets the example.
    • Proactive in self-assessing against corporate EHS and Quality standards and governmental regulations.

    Expectations

    • Optimum Making and Finishing efficiency achieved (measured using OPERA) through mechanical reliability of all machines
    • Achieving Maintenance KPIs (PM Adherence, etc.)
    • Minimal line downtime through the implementation of Planned maintenance
    • Optimised overall cost of maintaining machines through effective and time repair work.
    • Compliance to EHS/Quality and FP&R standards.
    • GMP compliance with respect to equipment maintenance and operation.
    • Successful generation and implementation of improvement ideas/projects.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Is able to correctly estimate time to repair and time to complete maintenance activities.

    Experiences/Educational Level/Skills Attributes Required

    LEVEL OF EDUCATION

    • Minimum N6 Diploma in Engineering plus trade Test qualification or National Diploma.

    LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE

    • 2-5 years manufacturing or similar experience is preferred, with an emphasis in mechanics or electronics.
