    Junior Social & Stakeholder Engagement Consultant

    What will you do?

    In this position you will join our Social and Stakeholder Engagement team, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of infrastructure projects.

    Role responsibilities

    • Able to work competently work under supervision to deliver assignments on time, including research.
    • Keen to develop self- and willing to seek assistance where required.
    • Work in a team consulting communities and other stakeholders
    • Must be able to work away from home.
    • Write reports and take minutes at community meetings.
    • Facilitate meetings with a senior person.
    • Assist with logistics to organise community meetings.
    • Do social research and stakeholder mapping.
    • Planning and conducting fieldwork i.e. surveys, focus group meetings, public participation meetings.
    • Undertaking community engagement and liaison activities.
    • Liaise with stakeholders.
    • Communicate complaints and inquiries from external parties (i.e., communities) to supervisor or project manager timeously
    • Assist in conducting research.
    • Compile basic reports for submission to supervisors.
    • Must be able to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally.

    Proven expertise in:

    • Administration skills and report writing.
    • Engagement planning and facilitation (small to large groups).
    • Planning of community and stakeholder engagement sessions.
    • Stakeholder Engagement Plan compilation.
    • Facilitation of community engagement sessions.
    • Social research.

    Minimum requirements

    • Applicable Degree from a reputable tertiary institution in a relevant discipline (i.e. Social Sciences, Geography or Environmental Management, Community Development, Socio-economic Development, Anthropology).
    • A post-graduate degree will be advantageous.
    • Driver’s license required as well as the ability to drive.
    • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Must be able to work within a team and willing to travel locally and into the rest of Africa.
    • Knowledge within the field of community development and stakeholder engagement.
    • Research methodologies.
    • Statistical and data analysis skills.
    • Must be able to demonstrable report-writing skills.
    • Previous international experience would be beneficial.

    Skills, and characteristics

    • Excellent report writing skills and experience with compilation of diverse documents (reports, presentations, spreadsheets, etc.).
    • Excellent communication skills as well as in managing time, setting priorities, planning, organising and communicating with a wide variety of internal and external clients and stakeholders.
    • Willingness to travel.
    • Flexibility and willingness to work long field hours to complete major projects.
