About the job
We are seeking to employ two young, creative interns to join our team and contribute their ideas, talents, and skills across a variety of research projects and participatory, arts-based programming. We are looking
for people who are interested in developing their own social justice-focused projects, while also supporting our administrative and research projects as a collective.
This internship offers you:
-Mentorship and support from a committed and experienced group of researchers, social scientists and facilitators who want to share skills and knowledge for your own development while also learning from your unique set of experiences
- A productive space to craft your own area of focus and use your creative energy to pursue the development of a justice-orientated project. This can be any idea that we can help you shape, define, and expand.
- A challenging and creative environment that will continuously push you to think outside of the conventional box
- A monthly stipend and seed funds for your own project
Who we are looking for:
- A hard-working, committed young leader who wants to contribute to society and requires the time and space to develop themselves with experienced researchers and facilitators
- Someone with a demonstrated commitment to social justice and equality
Someone who is excited to create new forms of knowledge and critically reflect on how to work across a variety of mediums (written, arts-based, voice, video, etc)
- Someone who is eager to learn, think critically, and take initiative in completing tasks
- An individual committed to being an active member of a collaborative and inclusive team
Requirements:
- Between the ages of 18-25
- Matric certificate
- Experience with community action, research, or other social justice projects
- Commitment to justice-focused work
- Team ethics and commitment to diversity and inclusion
Interns will be based at the Pivot Collective offices in Muizenberg, Cape Town. We would expect interns to be available in person at least two
days a week.
