    Head: Operations and Governance

    What will you do?

    • A position of Head: Operations and Governance exists in Santam Group Sourcing & Transformation, a business unit in Santam. This role will be based at the Head Office in Tygervalley and reports directly to the Head: Group Sourcing and Transformation.
    • The role is responsible for the overall management of Group Sourcing operations and governance within the Santam and Sanlam Group. Ensure progress by facilitating internal efficiencies through improved structures and efficient processes. Serving as primary leadership interface with business for Group Sourcing operations and governance. Responsible for implementing and managing the procurement operational processes, systems, reporting capability and procedures. Develop and implement a digital procurement strategy that will enable an efficient and effective procurement team. The incumbent will also be responsible for Facilities Management.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    Governance:

    • To ensure that Group Sourcing utilise a consistent approach to Sourcing.
    • Custodian of sourcing policies, methodologies and processes and maintenance thereof
    • Provide ‘internal’ governance to ensure compliance with policies and methodologies (e.g. strategic sourcing, category management, supplier management processes, controls etc).
    • Report on non-compliance and identify appropriate actions to remediate
    • Primary contact for audit enquiries and the co-ordination of audit activities
    • Initiate audits and/or reviews as and when required.

    Group Sourcing Operations:

    • Manage development, implementation and maintenance of up-to-date, relevant systems and e-sourcing tools, which will support the Sanlam Group sourcing initiatives.
    • Ensure their proper use by Sourcing staff across the Sanlam Group/Santam as well as in the business units.

    Reporting:

    • Responsible for the management of the Sourcing MIS/data team for spend analysis, benefits tracking and reporting, performance management and BSC reporting and maintenance of supplier, spend and savings databases
    • Responsible for providing procurement operational and management reports, when required
    • Create the capabilities for AI led modelling

    Vendor/Supplier Management:

    • Manages the vendor administration process
    • Ensures appropriate risk assessments standards and processes are in place in the management of supplier risk
    • Manages the publishing of a group supplier listing
    • Effectively manage a database of prospective suppliers including BO/BWO suppliers

    Facilities Management:

    • Primary contact and liaison for all the Santam business units and Sanlam Facilities and Real Estate (SFRE) for all facilities management related matters
    • Manage Facilities Management budgets and service level agreements
    • Represent Santam Group on all Facilities Management projects / initiatives

    Qualification

    • Minimum BComm or Finance related degree

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Minimum 10 years management experience in Procurement Operations, Strategic Sourcing and/or compliance in a Procurement / Supply Chain environment and Facilities Management
    • Sourcing practices and processes across multiple spend categories
    • Strong people management skills (leading, managing, motivating & developing staff)
    • Knowledge of Santam/Sanlam business preferable
    • Working knowledge of the preferential procurement element of the BBBEE Act and amended codes of good practice advantageous
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders
    • Experienced in developing policies to enforce newly developed Sourcing processes/ practices
    • International experience on Procurement projects will be advantageous
    • Strong systems and financial management experience is preferred
    • Solid experience in 3rd Party Risk Management
