Hair Stylist - Cornubia at Dis-Chem Pharmacies

The purpose of this role is to provide a range of hair care services, including shampooing, cutting, coloring, styling and blow-drying.Ensure salon product inventory is sufficient.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:

•  Grade 12 – Matric or Senior Certificate plus a Certificate or Diploma in Hairdressing

Job Description:
Hair Care:

• Analyse, client’s hair, facial features and needs to determine beauty treatments and advice clients on hair care needs
• Adhere to Dis-Chem`s shampoo, condition and rinsing of hair procedures
• Trim, cut and shave hair, beards, moustaches and sideburns using clippers, scissors, trimmers and razors
• Create hairstyles for formal events
• Apply correct amount of chemical setting, straightening- or curling solution to a client’s hair when requested
• Adhere to the proper application procedures when using curlers, hot irons, curling irons, hair colour, dye and tint
• Ensure accurate application of scalp massage techniques when washing a client’s hair
• Attend supplier training as scheduled by Head Office
• Attend meetings as scheduled by management and Head Office

Operational Hair Care Standards:

• Follow safety, sanitation and health standards within the hair salon industry and inform salon team members of new standards
• Learn and perfect new hair styles and techniques
• Keep up to date with the latest hair and beauty trends in the industry

Customer Service

• Greet and attend to clients walking into the salon and communicate with clients via email and telephone, when needed.
• Ensure clients that are waiting are happy and comfortable by giving them a magazine and/or refreshments
• Give clients advice and product information about the hair care products the salon has on offer

Administration: 

• Maintain and manage an appointment calendar through scheduling procedures
• Maintain and ensure client records are up to date
• Administrate therapeutic scalp and hair treatments within the salon
• Perform reception duties such as answering telephone calls and making appointments

Sales: 

• Demonstrate and sell styling products to clients
• Display shelves must have sufficient products on them according to standard operating procedures
• Promote services and promotions such as bleaching, conditioning, treatments, permanent waving, straightening and tinting of hair in the salon
