    Graphic Designer

    Role and responsibilities

    • Be able to simultaneously take on varied briefs, which includes: in-store POS updates, social media, packaging updates, layout design, internal company documents, website updates, newsletter design, basic video editing, online store updates and any other relevant marketing and operational material. 
    • Manage workload and production with team members from start to finish, ensuring that deadlines are met.
    • Keep a detailed and well-labelled graphic design folder/record on the company’s Google Drive for easy access of all print-ready files.
    • Design and illustrate elements required where necessary for briefs.
    • Be innovative to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time.
    • Ensure all items are print-ready for the production teams and printers.
    • Work in a logical order to give relevant and accurate feedback to team members and management regarding projects.
    • Maintain accurate records of the progress of all jobs.
    • Work as part of a team with marketing coordinator, marketing manager, and creative director.
    • Ensure consistent brand identity across all marketing material created.
    • Partake in Creative Brainstorms with Marketing Team and conceptualise and roll out brand campaigns.

    Competencies

    • Have excellent design and FMCG environment skills and knowledge.
    • English - Read, write and speak well.
    • Be creative, have an eye for a good design.
    • Take the initiative and run with creative briefs.
    • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the team.
    • Ability to think out of the box for unusual design solutions.
    • Be able and willing to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
    • Working with a range of media and keeping up to date with emerging technologies.
    • Working with Adobe CC (Mandatory: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. Preferable: Premier Pro, After Effects) and keeping up to date with the latest versions of the software.
    • Be comfortable using project management programs such as Slack and Google Drive.

     
    Essential:

    • Grade 12 Matric and Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field
    • 5 years of experience in graphic design
    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
    • Strong communication, conceptual thinking, typography skills and design skills
    • Portfolio of work

    Advantageous:

    • Experience designing retail store signage, Web Design, Video Editing and 3D mock-ups.
