    Financial Manager

    About the Job

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Monthly, half year and year end reporting
    • Maintenance and review of monthly working paper files to support the financial results and reconciliations of the entity
    • Review of the monthly financial pack for group reporting purposes
    • Preparation and review of the half year and year end reporting pack in line with the group guidelines.
    • Preparation of monthly GLC financial and management reports.
    • Ensure timelines are strictly adhered to in all accounting functions

    Working Capital Management

    • Debtors
      • Review of credit applications and assessments.
      • Monitoring and assessing the credit limits and extension of credit to customers
      • Reviewing the debtors reconciliations and resolving queries on customer accounts
      • Review of the daily, weekly and monthly debtors reports
      • Reporting to the Credit Committee on debtors performance.
      • Assisting the debtor’s controllers on collection of outstanding monies.
      • Maintaining a good relationship with the customers and understanding their business
    • Creditors
      • Review of both local and foreign creditors reconciliations
      • Authorisation and release of payments
      • Management of accounts payable team and assisting the team with resolving queries with suppliers .
      • Ensuring that all payments are done on time in line with the terms with the suppliers.
      • Maintaining sound communication and relationships with the suppliers

    Inventory Management

    • Working with the warehouse and the inventory team in ensuring effective management and control of the inventory in the areas of stock accuracy, valuation, custody and control. This includes the review of the warehouse processes

    Cash Flow

    • Management of the all the cash inflows and outflows and cash flow forecasting for the GLC.
    • Liaising with Group Treasury on treasury issues as required by them.

    Budgeting

    • Coordinating the budget preparation process in line with the group budget guidelines
    • Implementation and communication of the approved budgets to the respective GLC team members
    • Control of the budget by ensuring that departments spend within their budgets
    • Tracking monthly deviations from the budget and facilitating corrective action where necessary.
    • Preparation, distribution and follow up of the monthly variance analysis report
    • Reviewing of the budgets in line with any recommendation from the group

    Capex

    • Preparation and implementation of the capex budget
    • Capital expenditure appraisal for any expected projects
    • Monitoring all the capex spending to ensure that it is within the approved budget and in line with the group authority levels

    Key Financial Controls

    • Implementation, review, and monitoring of the division’s financial controls and processes in line with the group controls framework
    • Communication and enforcement of the controls.
    • Monitor and drive compliance with the group’s authority levels across all business processes

    Internal and External Audit Management

    • Liaising and communicating with the auditors
    • Ensuring that the auditors get the necessary support during the audit and responding to any issues and queries they might have.

    Finance Team Management

    • Lead, manage and supervise the divisional Finance Team
    • Ensure adequate training and development of staff
    • Performance reviews and regular update of staff’s key responsibility areas

    Requirements

    • BCom or equivalent is a minimum requirement
    • Professionally qualified accountant an advantage (CA (SA), CIMA, etc)
    • Minimum 5 years financial experience.
    • Sound financial management, financial controls, budget, working capital and cash flow management experience
    • SAP experience an advantage
    • Technically up to date, in-depth knowledge of IFRS
    • Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
    • Hands on approach, positive attitude and team player
    • Good people skills, self-motivated, resourceful; energetic and disciplined
