    Financial And Budgeting Accountant - Midrand

    Dis-Chem Pharmacies requires a Financial and budgeting Accountant for their Head Office in Midrand. You will be required to To compile and review budgets and the comparison of these budgets to actuals across the Dis-Chem Group and investigation of variances. Proactive helping of the business to focus on areas of cost initiatives. The role will also be responsible for managing certain ledger accounts and financial statements.

    Minimum Requirements

    Essential:

    • Grade 12 – Matric or Senior Certificate
    • BCom Accounting. CIMA or CA Qualification
    • Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in an Accounting Retail background, SAP BI, and Budget analysis.

    Job Specification

    Ledger Accounts Management

    • Reconcile financial statements and accounts.
    • Ensure that entries are accurate and that transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards.
    • Reconciliation of certain GL accounts as well as maintain reconciliation dashboard.
    • Prepare reports, budgets, commentaries and financial statements.
    • Perform various account analyses and reconciliation.

    Budget Management and Analysis

    • Evaluate submitted budgets for anomalies.
    • Proactive helping of the business to focus on areas of cost initiatives.
    • Meet with budget holders regularly to monitor performance, investigate major variances and develop forecasts.
    • Assist in managing budgets by controlling budgeted costs against actual costs when required.
    • Estimate and forecast future financial need.
    • Review budgets and actuals across the Group and report on variances.
    • Perform accounting analyses and reporting to support decision-making purposes.

    Audits & Reporting

    • Assist and provide business intelligence and, if required, supporting documents and reconciliations during preparation to internal and external audits and coordinate their smooth implementations.
    • Maintain records and support auditing efforts.
    • Complete financial statements.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in developing and managing financial systems/policies.

    Internal Finance Controls

    • Regularly test and review the finance internal controls to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
    • Ensure that the current finance control matrix is continuously updated.
    • Identify and evaluate potential finance control risks and propose mitigating measures to your manager.
    • Identify, report and escalate finance control non-compliance and/or discrepancies to your manager.

    People Management

    • Manage and delegate duties to your subordinate team and ensure the team are effectively productive.
    • Responsible for the effective management and performance of the team.
    • Ensure performance delivery of all direct reports, motivating and managing them in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people management.


    Competencies

    Essential:

    • Knowledge of accounting principles.

    • Able to work independently, use initiative and take ownership of tasks.
    • Ability to be comfortable in leading people; coordinates and directs direct reportees and be able to to guide and lead other stakeholders within the company
    • Effectively manage direct reportees and projects and or programs
    • Good Microsoft Office skills and SAP skills

    Special conditions of employment:

    • MIE, clear criminal and credit
    • Driver’s license and/or own reliable transport
