The Stitch team hold deep experience building fintech and developer-facing products in Africa. We started building the Stitch API to make it easier for African fintech developers to create new, improved, more ambitious products.
Description
Stitch is a developer-first API startup with a mission to deeply connect financial systems with the wider world. We provide an API which allows third-party apps and websites to interact with their user's bank accounts in ways that unlocks the ability for companies across Africa to build innovative technology products quickly.
Creating innovative financial products is incredibly difficult today, and we believe that unlocking the way people interact with their finances starts with enabling developers with the tools and infrastructure needed to execute on their vision.
We're looking to hire an experienced Finance Manager to accelerate our growth. The ideal candidate will crave working in a fast-paced environment, and operate as a systems-level thinker to lay the groundwork for (and eventually build) a professionalized finance function.
At the outset, this individual will primarily function as an individual contributor (IC) working with our out-of-house accountants to manage our day-to-day finances and enable best-practice accounting in each of our various revenue markets. It is the expectation, however, that this individual will have the opportunity to grow out a team of analysts and financial accountants to support the function as the business scales.
Responsibilities
With the Chief Operating Officer, lead the day-to-day financial operations within the company (including payroll, accounts management, invoicing, and other transactions)
Build out prototypes of Accounts, Treasury Management, Strategic Finance / Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) functions
Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting, including recons and relevant forecasts
Partner with senior management in identifying and maintaining a budget and pro-forma forecast of business performance
Establish financial control mechanisms to enable adherence to the budget as the team scales
Manage the company's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems across its markets, including completion of annual statutory financial statements
Support fundraising documentation and/or diligence requirements when and as necessary
Ensure compliance with international accounting policies and regulatory requirements
Requirements
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
Qualified accountant (with internationally recognized accounting qualification) with at least 3 - 5 years post-qualification experience
Excellent awareness of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and applicability of standards and accounting measures across multiple markets
Strong analytics toolkit, including fluency in GSheets / Excel and GSlides / Powerpoint to visualise financial outcomes
A track record of building or leading finance functions, including any of those mentioned above (Accounts, Treasury Management, Strategic Finance, FP&A)
Advantageous
Experience working in a high-growth startup operating across multiple markets
Experience working in parent / group accounting structures
Interest in or prior experience with financial technology or software-as-a-service (SaaS) businesses and their revenue / cost structures
Knowledge of specialised financial reporting and data mining tools such as SQL, Access, etc.
