    Employee Relations Specialist

    Purpose of the Job        

    • To manage, plan and coordinate employee relations activities and provide advice to employees and management on matters relating to grievances, performance and disciplinary issues in order to ensure sound labour relations within the company.

    Main Responsibilities        

    Policy and Procedures

    •         Manage, review and maintain effective policies concerning relationships between management and employees.
    •         Manage, review and maintain all grievance and disciplinary procedures and ensure these are implemented correctly.
    •         Manage the participatory process and set guidelines for a consultative process.
    •         Advise management on effective communication to employees on any labour related matters.

    Employee Relations Function

    •         Monitor the climate within the company with regards to relationships between management and staff and advise management on ways to improve these.
    •         Provide strategic services to the company on Employee Relations and act as an advisor.
    •         Identify problems or potential conflict areas and advise leadership accordingly.
    •         Evaluate the impact of Employee Relation strategies and processes in relationships and advise managers on how to improve them.
    •         Conduct training to managers and supervisors on all policies and procedures relating to Employee Relations.
    •         Manage the resolution of disputes, advice and consult all parties concerning the process to be followed in this regard.
    •         Ensure representation on behalf of the company at the CCMA or any other Labour related body in respect of any dispute or Labour Related issues.
    •         Conduct ad hoc research on Employee Relation matters and advise management.
    •         Produce reports to management relating to Employee Relation matters.

    Educational Requirements        
    Essential: -  Degree in HR / IR

    • Postgraduate qualification in IR would be advantageous.
    • Skills and Experience        
    • 5  years relevant experience in a large Unionized organization

    Conciliation and Arbitration  

    In-depth knowledge of South African Labour Law and regulation
