    Electrical Technician

    POSITION PURPOSE

    To support the Broll onsite team in performing day to day task as to required performance levels where Broll is responsible for electrical systems. Ensure that such systems perform as designed and intended in order that the building electrical and electronic systems operate in a reliable and cost-effective way.

    Ensure site electrical-related policies, procedures, work processes, safety guidelines, and programs are compliant with all pertinent codes and requirements.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES OF THE POSTION

    • Responsible for maintaining all systems that are owned by Kimberly-Clark downstream from the utility providers’ meter (point of coupling).
    • Provide support during electrical system shutdown on an as-needed basis. Support for Kimberly-Clark related projects that require connection to Kimberly-Clark electrical system(s). Typical work will include, but not be limited to building distribution systems, transformers, switches, panels, and breakers.
    • Over time or weekend work will be required as and when the working schedule so requires. Also required to perform or assist with handyman work when required to eliminate backlog or stand over work.
    •  Deliver planned & reactive maintenance service covering electrical.
    •  Implement equipment service specifications in accordance with the required standards.
    •  Install & commission electrical equipment in accordance to specification.
    •  Conduct maintenance on electrical reticulation and equipment as per schedule, preventative or emergency fault rectification.
    •  Perform inspection of elctrical installation, identify areas of risk & report back for rectification.
    •  Ensure that preventative or emergency fault rectification complies with the relevant legislation and service level agreement.
    •  Maintain, repair and service electrical items as per in scope.
    •  Ensure quality of work and timeous completion of all requests.
    •  Provide constant feedback to the Site Lead & the client on all requests.
    •  Capture all job or work instruction detail to the Broll platform or on a Job card.
    •  Ensure all admin work are completed with all detail and as soon as the job or task is completed.
    •  Verify the job information with the supporting staff to ensure the correct information are required for the office support staff to complete the task and invoice.
    •  Ensure that all work is are left clean and neat after the completion of any task.
    •  Verify with the client on completion of the task that the client is satisfied and that the work was done to satisfaction.
    •  Report any unsafe conditions and follow up on the conclusion.
    •  Do all tool checks on a regular basis and ensure the check reports are filed to support the safe operations of power tools and ladders.
    •  Perform routine items,
    •  Inspections
    •  SAPS
    •  PAT testing
    •  Lighting audits
    •  COC verifications
    •  Obtain vendor quotes for approval
    •  Contractor management
    •  Administration
    •  HSE Admin
    •  LOTTO procedures
    •  Test for dead
    •  Cleaning and maintaining all electrical boards and rooms

    Electrical assets include, but are not limited to:

    • Building Utility and Distribution Systems
    • Primary Power Systems (Power Feeds, Substations, Switchgear owned by Kimberly-Clark)
    • Secondary Power Systems (Switch gear, motor control centers, motor starters, disconnects, panel boards, circuit breakers, transformers, computer distribution units, wiring, devices, receptacles, etc.)
    • Site Distribution Systems (Wiring, Conduits, and wall/floor outlets, modular furniture wiring, etc.)
    • Lighting Systems (Panel boards, circuit breakers, transformers, lighting relays and controls, infrared and ultrasonic sensors, lighting dimmer controls, light fixtures, ballast, lamps, wiring, switches and dimmers, etc.)
    • Emergency Power Systems (Emergency Generators, UPS systems, panels, batteries, and control cards)
    • Electrical Systems & Equipment (Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Electric Motors and Fans (including VAV units), Electrical buzzers/alarms, Electromagnetic door locks, Lightning Protection Equipment
    • Building Indoor and Outdoor Lighting
    • Maintenance of electrical panels
    • Electrical System Maintenance
    •  Ensure accuracy of all panel schedules and equipment labeling (e.g., arc labels)
    •  Test circuits, locate, diagnose, and repair faults
    •  Maintain, clean, and replace components as required
    •  Maintain conduits, raceways and interstitial spaces in orderly condition
    •  Repair, replace and adjust electric heat tracing, as needed
    •  Perform Infrared testing annually or as required by Kimberly-Clark
    •  Maintain, repair and replace electric leak detection systems and components
    •  Inspect and repair VFDs of all sizes and capacities
    •  Provide qualified on-call electrician services to promptly restore lost power or remedy any problems that may create a safety or security hazard. (e.g., Burning smell, critical asset or area lighting outage, all other outages)
    • Major Maintenance and Refurbishing of Electrical Systems
    •  Support the planning and implementation of major maintenance projects
    •  Maintain and analyze reliability histories to support project requests
    • Uninterrupted (or Uninterruptable) Power Supply (UPS)
    •  Responsible for monitoring UPS equipment operation
    •  Manage maintenance of the batteries, transfer switches, wiring, devices, and accessories
    •  Ensure all systems are maintained as recommended by the manufacturer or Kimberly-Clark-approved requirements
    •  Coordinate maintenance timing with users to minimize potential impact of power outage when UPS is off-line
    • Test, Repair and Maintain Emergency and Stand-By Power Generation
    •  Coordinate maintenance timing with Kimberly-Clarks to minimize potential impact of power outages when emergency power generating systems are off-line
    •  Regular test of power generating systems
    •  Monitor operation and loading when power generating systems are operating
    •  Always maintain optimum fuel capacity
    •  Replenish fuel supply as required and develop an emergency refueling plan
    • Replace All Lamps as Needed
    •  Replace lighting as per the SLA
    •  Recycle old lamps in accordance with recycling programs and site disposal guidelines
    • Maintain and Repair Indoor and Outdoor Lighting
    •  Maintain fixtures, lenses, ballasts, covers and associated components
    •  Remedy all hazards, shorts and flickering
    •  Repair or replace damaged or stained components as appropriate to service levels
    •  Test emergency, security and exit lights; replace low batteries
    •  Adjust and reset lighting controls (including timers, motion sensors, etc.) as required
    • Utility Equipment Operations and Maintenance
    •  Operate utilities in an efficient, cost effective and reliable manner aligned with energy conservation goals. Systems include but are not limited to: Chillers, Cooling Towers, Compressed Air Equipment, Vacuum Equipment, Hot water heaters/systems, Pumps, Bulk Tanks, Heat Exchangers, DI Water Systems
    •  Repair and maintain utilities: Remedy all outages
    •  Repair and maintain utilities: Remedy all hazards or malfunctions
    •  Properly maintain Main power stations including but not limited to high voltage switch gears and breakers, transformers, and all related components (examples: 15kV feeders and transformers, meters, etc.)

    PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

    •  The SLA with our client will be used as a measurement of performance as well as the feedback on assessments from management and reporting structures.
    •  Must conduct himself in a professional manner, conduct and relationship soundness based on client feedback in KPI assessments.

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    • Grade 12
    • Must have electrical trade test and up to date wireman’s license
    • Driver’s license

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

    • Must have computer skills, know IT management systems, reporting, and meeting

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in a similar role
