Position Description:

• The Jewellery division is looking for an energetic, efficient and task-driven Buyer to look after the Gold portfolio within American Swiss & Sterns.

Responsibilities:

• Successfully source and procure jewellery
• Work closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives.
• Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies.
• Negotiate effectively.
• Build and maintain good relationships with staff, suppliers and key functions in the business.
• Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions.
• Contribute to growth/profit through innovative ideas
• Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detail.
• Communicate effectively at all levels.
• Team player and be able to foster collaboration across buying and planning functions.

Requirements:

• Have experience as a Buyer (3+ year essential); with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in jewellery buying
• Clear understanding of the competitive jewellery landscape
• Excellent planning and organising skills.
• Communication skills.
• Be a team player
• An interest in and knowledge of trends.
• A working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable).
