    Junior Category Manager

    Job description

    AFC - Danone Southern Africa (Pty)inAfrica is looking for Junior Category Manager in Bryanston.

    Purpose

    • To build in collaboration with the Sales Strategy and Planning Manager the Category Vision and the development of the Ambient category (custard category for the moment, could be extended in the future depending our innovations).
    • Defining a drive strategy category and brands goals by channel, recommending the 4P (range, merchandising, promotion, price) and identifying the levers of growth

    Key Area of Responsibility

    • Strategy and Planning
      • Develop and implement a strategy to drive year round business for all products in category
      • Deliver the category vision to provide growth in line with the wider business strategy
      • Manage, implement and communicate joint business projects with the trade & internal team
      • Develop a merchandising strategy which drives category & DSA growth
      • Identify and execute strategies to maximise channel presence
      • Co-ordinate the proposal, building & implementation of planograms
      • Ensure category influence at leading retailers
      • Maintain the category value proposition and segment -level category strategies
    • Sales Development
      • Develop an understanding of shopper behaviour to maximize shopper preference during "path to purchase"
      • Increase category market share as well as category revenue growth
      • Work closely with the sales team to develop the brand within the retailers and in execute strategic priorities with retailers
      • Market Brand Analysis and 4P recommendations
      • Acquire and interpret market data using various sources
      • Compile and deliver share of trade and distribution reports (internal and external)
      • Review the current market and look at potential market opportunities
      • Determine an efficient assortment of products for a store, based on performance data
      • Create and deliver a range of recommendations and planograms for convenience, wholesale and co-operative customers
      • Define the right promotional strategy to optimize the expenses with retailers
      • Maintain and evaluate the current business pricing strategy and develop the annual Commercial Pricing strategy
      • Liaise with the Marketing & Key Accounts teams to ensure that adequate support by way of merchandising and promotions is available nationally order to provide brand visibility and promote sales in the region
    • Integration
      • Provide training to the Field Sales and Key Accounts teams on Category Management
      • Offer strategic insight to marketing and sales teams on key shopper and market Information

    Qualification

    Relevant post matric qualification or business degree with a Sales & Marketing specialization

    Work Experience

    • Sound Sales and Key Accounts background
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Marketing / Category Management in FMCG
    • Proficient in MS Office Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
    • Proven success in commercial-focused environment
    • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships
    • Leadership in transversal role
    • Advanced communication skills (written, oral and listening)
    • Strong customer relationship building skills
    • Internal and external customer service skills
    • Customer, Category and Channel Knowledge
    • Proven ability to filter and cascade top-down feedback
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Excellent administration skills
