    Business Solutions Manager

    Job description

    Location: Johannesburg

    Role Purpose & Scope
    As a Business Solutions Manager you will be required to lead a team of business consultants and solution architects in assisting clients in solving business problems using technology solutions. Through the use of products and industry knowledge you will analyze customer/business requirements, propose technical solutions, interface with multi-disciplinary onshore and offshore teams, and in the process achieve the required goals and objectives.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the analysis, design, and implementation of organizational information systems and software applications.
    • Responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications.
    • Perform a principle consultant role assuming overall responsibility for defining a solution that matches client’s business needs
    • Meets with clients to gather, analyse and document business requirements and produce system requirements
    • Provides leadership and guidance both internally and in providing solutions to CSG’s business clients
    • Participates in pre-sales activities using personal presence and product knowledge
    • Facilitates and demonstrates system functionality to clients
    • Estimates scope of consultant and/or architect effort and accurately estimates development time required for completion
    • Guides the project team through implementation and testing of the system requirements
    • Reviews test plans and test cases to ensure coverage of system requirements
    • Primary contact point for client’s business interests and works toward resolution of issues
    • Acts as a point of contact for information, support, direction and leadership for other business analysts, core product management teams and shared development team
    • Provides leadership to the project team and client on the impact of market and regulatory changes and the future directions of the core products
    • Responsible for delivering feedback to the core product teams to ensure that future releases of the products meet the ongoing needs of the client/business
    • Responsible for decisions which require considerable independent judgment
    • Works independently and collaborate with peers when necessary
    • Prevents erroneous decisions which will result in serious impacts to project costs and customer commitments
    • Spearheads product marketing and product development (as and when required)
    • Manages a team of direct reports who drive service lines in the analysis and design area
    • Works with the Delivery Manager/Director to define overall recruiting needs and expertise in their domain and to establish professional development needs for practitioners in the consulting area
    • Mentors and guides the greater business consultant and architecture team

     

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science and/or Telecommunications
    • Minimum 8 years of experience as a business or software consultant in the telecommunications industry
    • 3-4 years’ leadership or management experience advantageous
    • In-depth understanding of customer needs and general impact of changes in business environment and industry trends. In-depth understanding of client’s industry (wireline, wireless, data services, cable systems, pre/post-paid business models etc.)
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • General understanding of project management disciplines to ensure primary responsibilities are completed within accepted standards and templates
    • Highly developed communication and facilitation skills for demonstrations, presentations, consulting with clients, and influencing others
    • Works independently and collaborates with peers when necessary
    • Knowledge and experience in working with agile teams would be advantageous
