    Mission And Function

    You as individual contributor along with team of Quality Control department and HSE representatives protect and enhance the brand image of Siemens by ensuring consistent quality in every stages of business as per the guidelines given by principles in Germany, Siemens AG as well as regional expectations in South African and neighbouring countries markets. Delivering market oriented quality products.

    The mission for QM is to support the Country Business Unit leader in implementing and maintaining the Siemens QM and regional quality requirements (incl. documentation of a Quality Management System (QMS) where required). Development of a quality strategy, plans and targets based on quality strategies of associated Sectors/Divisions/Business Units for the agreement by the Country Business Unit leader. Keeps up-to-date with national legal regulations, informs the affected Divisions/BUs about changes, coordinates certification (as far as not already covered by Sectors/Divisions/BUs), and aligns with CHR EHS and product safety. Advises the Country controlled Affiliated Companies on the implementation of regulatory and local market quality requirements. He/she directs the quality managers of the Country and - if relevant - Country controlled Legal Entities (via governance). You reports directly to the Business Unit leader or to a person appointed by him/her and to the Cluster QM Coordinator in functional matters.

    What are the responsibilities of the Role?

    • Implement QM & HSE system in alignment with the requirements of Siemens QM, Sectors/Divisions/Business Units, Siemens Process Framework and national legal regulations.
    • Keep up to date with national legal regulation, coordinate certifications (as far as not already covered by Sectors/Divisions/BUs), and align with CHR EHS and product safety.
    • Where relevant responsible for the required management system documentation in alignment with the Siemens QM. Advises the Country controlled Affiliated Companies on the implementation of regulatory and local market quality requirements. Provide leadership and direction to assigned project teams including mediation and conflict resolution where required.
    • Create, maintain, monitor various quality related KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) defined by Siemens AG globally as well as by Siemens organisation in South Africa locally.
    • Develop quality & HSE strategy, plans, targets and activities based on quality strategies of associated Sectors/Divisions/Business Units as well as customer satisfaction, process and product quality for the agreement by Country CEO.
    • Drive NCC (Non Conformance Cost) management as a quality focus topic with specific focus on root cause analysis and prevention of same / simliar mistakes.
    • Implement quality reporting system for Country Business Unit leader. Control and report fulfilment of quality requirements and performance. Regular reporting to Country management and Cluster QM Coordinator and use of these results to initiate improvement activities on Country level in coordination with the Heads of Sector/Division/BU QM.
    • Conduct management reviews and initiate necessary corrective actions with Country management. Initiate analysis of customer satisfaction surveys (CSS) from Country perspective and derive actions to be taken with regard to quality.
    • In agreement with the Heads of Division/BU QM: Initiate and control the application of quality standards in processes/projects, e.g. quality gates. Drive continuous improvement with Country management. If necessary, refusal of development, production, shipping and acceptance release (in agreement with the respective Heads of Sector/Division/BU QM).
    • Coordinate supplier quality management for local suppliers to secure the delivered quality and reduce the non-conformance costs. This comprises supplier related processes like selection, information, development, integration, monitoring and auditing.
    • Identify qualification gaps concerning quality issues, define local adaptations of training concept and coordinate quality training in the country.
    • Define and drive audits and assessments, ensure regular assessments to evaluate the maturity of the implementation of the mandatory elements of Siemens Quality Management & HSE requirements on Country perspective. Recommend improvement actions and ensure follow up controlling.

    Your authorities will be:

    • Intervention, overruling and escalation in case of non-compliance of regulations and quality relevant procedures including the usage of temporary expertise.
    • Release and stop of deliveries and services. Authority to stop processes and projects in the Business units in agreement with the respective Sector/Division/BU QM & EHS in cases where corresponding quality & EHS requirements are not fulfilled.
    • Unrestricted access to all quality relevant data e.g. customer contracts, risk assessments, financial data, project plans, target settings.
    • Internal and external representation of the Country Management in case of quality and regulatory topics.

    What do I need to Qualify for the Position?

    • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing industry with experience in Quality management and EHS (Environment, Health and Safety)
    • Education: An University degree in Engineering e.g. B.Sc. or Equivalent
    • General Business Skills including conflict resolution, interaction management, report writing skills
    • Assertive people management skills with the ability to deal with diverse cultures across borders, languages etc
    • Self reliant, autonomous with high drive for success;

    Personal Traits

    • A mature individual with at least 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing industry.
    • Must have a high stress tolerance
    • You must be structured, persistent and posses strong inter personnel skills to lead a cross-functional team.
