The Accountant of the South African subsidiaries will be responsible for maintaining accounting books, records, entries in SAP and prepare the monthly IFRS reporting package. The accountant will cooperate closely with the external tax consultants. The Accountant will report to the Regional CFO who is based in Nigeria.

The Accountant of the South African subsidiaries will be responsible for maintaining accounting books, records, entries in SAP and prepare the monthly IFRS reporting package. The accountant will cooperate closely with the external tax consultants. The Accountant will report to the Regional CFO who is based in Nigeria.

Key Accountabilities
- Maintain the accounting books and records in SAP
- Responsible for statutory GAAP and IFRS accounting
- Prepare the monthly IFRS reporting package for the Group reporting purposes
- Analyze financial records and reports to ensure they are in accordance with the Group’s Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, i.e. IFRS for Group Financial Statements and Accounting Standards for statutory purposes with the assistance of the external accounting/tax consultants
- Coordinate with the external tax consultants for the tax filings and ensure compliance with accounting, tax and other statutory requirements
- Participate in year- end audit procedures
- Reconcile customer and supplier balances and propose of payment schedule
- Review and perform payments and maintain a payment schedule
- Perform other auxiliary tasks depending on department needs such as:
- Expense Reports
- Issue invoices
- Bank Reconciliations
- Filing documents
- Other reports requested by the CFO
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- University degree in Finance or Accounting
- The post-graduate degree is highly desirable
- International experience strongly preferred
- 3+ years of work experience in an Accounting Department or Audit Firm; ERP experience preferred (SAP a plus)
- Knowledge of IFRS would be a definite plus, ACCA Professional Qualification preferred
- Excellent use of MS Office, especially in using advanced Excel
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Advanced communication and presentation skills
- Analytical thinking, numbers literate, very good presentation skills are important.
