Cost Accountant at RCL Foods

Job Description

• RCL FOODS believes in doing more! We are passionate about our commitment to providing more food to more people more often. The Talent Acquisition Team is searching for a proficient Cost Accountant, with a specific focus on Product Costing.
• The role will be situated within our Consumer Division and report to the Commercial Manager. This role will be based in Bronkhorstspruit and required to travel to Durban two - three times per month.
• The purpose of this role is to provide commercial decision making and costing support for new products and renovations.
• The ideal candidate will be able to function well under pressure, meet deadlines and have a drive for results. A keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently is a must!

Minimum Requirements

• CA or CIMA qualified.
• 3 - 5 years’ experience, including commercial costing and some exposure to processing and/or manufacturing environments.
• PC expertise with emphasis on MS Office products. Intermediate ability in Excel is a prerequisite.

Duties & Responsibilities

Product Costing:

• Provide indicative “what-if” costings and impact on profitability
• Work closely with NPD (New Product Development Technical team) to ensure the integrity of the recipe
• Guiding Technical & Customer teams on commercial impacts of new products / decisions being made
• Provide a seamless service within agreed time frames to support the successful implementation of all innovation
• Create a platform within our quarterly profitability review to evaluate the success of Innovation post launches, providing insight and learnings which can be taken into future Innovation launches

Product Costing Analysis:

• Provide meaningful profitability information and recommend ways to optimise category and product profitability for new launches.
• Support the sales, marketing and customer teams in the use of system tools regarding costing and profitability.
• Support Commercial manager in considering product rationalisation, mix comparisons and other business improvement opportunities.

Reporting:

• Develop a suite of standard commercial reports that will provide insight, stimulate further discussion and assist in decision making across NPD
• Consolidate reporting where appropriate and work closely with IT to automate where possible • Weekly tracking of costings done to create visibility of projects underway

Governance:

• Ensure that RCL ethical standards and the requirements of the RPM are adhered to
• Report and or escalate any areas of non- compliance appropriately.
