SITE EMPLOYEE RELATIONS SPECIALIST PROFILE
(DUNNOTTAR)
REPORTING LINE:
- Reports directly to: Site Manufacturing Director
- Reports functionally to: Head of Employee Relations
- Direct subordinates: Employee relations administrator
- Functionally subordinates: Site employee relations specialist
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing employee relations and supporting the site operating model (including Alstom site staff)
- Ensure sustainable labour peace and stability on site for optimum operational performance
- Interprets the Business, HR & ER Strategy into products and services for site applicability and application in collaboration with the Site Manager and Head of ER
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Responsible for sharing and embedding deep ER expertise within the areas of focus
- Has overall oversight and governance of all ER Operational related matters within site
- Provides direction and oversees the cross functional relationship to integrate with other processes that impact on the quality of relationships with employees. (e.g. Wellness, Remuneration, Talent Management, Leadership Development etc.)
- Implement benchmarked labour and legislative findings to remain current and relevant
- Management of the Site Top 5 risks for the Business & Management
- Provide relevant information for Gibela’ s head of employee relations to be considered for the wage negotiation processes
- Participation and collaboration with employer association, Social Labour plan, Partnership Agreement and site forum
- Manages the demand for ER Services within site and refers issues to the Head of Employee relations
- Full compliance to the Gibela code of ethics
COMMUNICATION AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Ensure that vision, values and business direction are embraced by the team
- Communicate and execute change and improvement effectively
- Implementation of the capacitating and up skilling of Line Management, Supervisors and Shop Stewards
- Management of monthly meetings, Partnership forum and other relevant forums on site
- Weekly/monthly reporting to the Site Manager and Head of employee relations
- Drive the intergration,socilalisation of new trade union stakeholders into the Gibela policies, procedures, practices, values and forums.
INNOVATION AND IMPROVEMENT
- Apply new ideas / work methods and opportunities for improving results through team engagement.
- Implement a proactive ER strategy for Site as agreed with the head of employee relations
- Support business initiatives and projects through change management process and engagement
- Provide advice to site Management regarding employee relation’s issues
- Management of a flexible Partnership Agreement in a volatile ER Environment on an internal level
- Consistently support the implementation of business optimization initiatives.
QUALIFICATION, COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant degree in HR/IR
- Registration with the South African Board for Personnel Practice as a Chartered HR Practitioner (Industrial Relations)
- Appropriate training in leadership and management
- Managing conflict
